Aaaagh' date=' i'm seriously losing patience with my fabia - i'm now thinking its time to call it a day as after having a power steering warning sensor and a temperature sensor both replaced within a month of each other (and each time having to pay the damn dealer £36 for a daignostic check!) ive got another one!

My engine management system warning came on and stayed on again and i've just paid for yet another diagnostic test to tell me its going to cost another £200 to repair as it needs a new lambda probe - whatever that is!

Its an 01 fabia and i was given it as a gift in march but so far its cost over £700 to get various warning lights sorted, is it time to admit defeat and put it out of its misery?!

Has anyone else got a fabia with a love of flashing its dash warning lights?!

All the faults you've mentioned are actually relatively common on older Fabia's & you are probably just about on top of them now so I certainly wouldn't give up on the car as someone else will just get the benefit of a "sorted" car if you do ! :)

I'd get a non-franchise dealer to replace the Lambda Probe for you & then hopefully your car should be ok.

Considering you've already invested a fair bit of dosh into it, I'd get it sorted. Once these problems are sorted it should be a fine car.

That said you may want to consider asking someone near you with VAGCOM to have a look at the errors logged to find out if there are any other problems lurking :(

You should be able to get a lambda probe for around £30 - £40 and it should be a case of undoing one and putting in the new one.

£36 for a diagnostic check! Thats taking the pi55! My dealer does these for free as long as I wait and he aint too busy... even on a Saturday morning! Have to agree with a few of the above you tend to get a run of these and then it settles. Ive have maf and evap sensor in a short space of time.

Thanks guys,

Yep, i guess youre right, at least the parts i have sorted now should last for a while, i'd not thought of it like that!

I thought £36 was a lot for a diagnostic, and ive had 3 in as many months now!! Sadly i'm in the middle of nowhere in suffolk so garages with the right set up are a bit thin on the ground, i guess that means the main dealers can charge pretty much what they like to a captive audience!

I'll give her a last chance then, other than her love of warning lights she's a lovely car, nice to drive and goes like a rocket without drinking too much petrol!

Trufles xx
