Fast take off with DSG

Featured Replies

You have more money than sense, what is with all these required racing starts from traffic lights and junctions?

If you are trying to beat on coming traffic or jumping busy roads it begs the question what you are doing on the road in the first place.

Yes there can be a momentary take up lag at times, but you allow for that in your driving actions and reactions. I drive two footed so as the foot brake comes off the gas pedal goes down thus barely any take up lag.

because sometimes we want to make a quick getaway, good enough reason for you toneboy or are we all in the wrong?

the name of the site kind of describes why most people joined i thought?

I'd like to see that in a VAG car.

Obviously in the Golf gti with DSG it is possible having seen the video, but other cars do not have the launch control and therefore if you have both pedals pressed at any one time you will find an even bigger 'lag' as the ECU cuts all the power. I'd imagine it's the same in the GTi too when not in launch mode.

Let alone trying that in a manual.

And anyway, sometimes we like to play, thats why we buy quick cars, we like doing traffic light grand prixs and seeing what other cars we can beat.

Does anyone know if this launch control is exclusive to the Golf or does the VRs have it on the DSG model?

I'm assuming the non sport models wont have it as the DSG Octy 140bhp diesel I test drove didn't have a 'sport' button, it had a separate position on the gear lever for sport mode?

I don't think the clutch take up is any quicker in D, S or manual. I think the only way for a speedy getaway is to rev it in neutral and slot into drive. Tell ya what, I'm happy for you to try it first too.
