Is vag com sortware worth buying?

Featured Replies

As my 2001 fabia has decided to light its dash up like a xmas tree with warning lights recently, ive wondered if it'd be worth investing in vag com to at least save me the

Be careful..........you will need not only the correct software but the correct cable for connecting..

I made a cable from www.andywhittaker.com for about 30 quid and used the evaluation version (ie free download of 3.1.1-2) of VAG-COM to read fault codes. I believe you can get ready made cables from China on eBay for less than that :D

I personally wouldn't buy software off eBay.....

I got the one from ecutool.com.

The guy is great! - cable + working software provided 4 cheap.

I see several members on here have the set up' date=' but sadly none in my area, so i looked online and found a software disc on ebay but it seemed very cheap and i dont want to cause more probs than i solve so is there anyone out there that can give me any advice please like how much it costs and wheres best to get it from?

The bit that costs is the cable connecting the car to the PC. Check which versions of Vag-Com your lead is supposed to work with - it varies. Only genuine Ross-Tech leads can latest software - not vital if you have a Fabia, but Octy 2 and Roomster owners will need a recent lead.
