Had my Fabia vRS a week!

Featured Replies

I have come to the end of my first week with my new Fabia vRS, and what spectacular motoring it has been. Just checked the trip computer and I have done over 1,600 miles spending a total of 43 hours behind the wheel (IN A WEEK!!). I have averaged 41.2 mpg and have an average speed of 35 mph. I cannot believe I have spent that long driving! No wonder my post count dropped over the last few days. I have had to jet wash her 4 times and brimmed her with fuel more times than I care to remember. Another plus is I am yet to have a dim moment and fill her with petrol.

I am yet to come up with a suitable name for her as of yet. I am decided on the fact that she is a female, so I will do some thinking into this area. I have absolutely no major complains, other than that my cup holder broke (being fixed under warranty next Thursday) and that my mpg could be better, but I think I have new car syndrome and will get over it in a few weeks.

As of yet I have not had any speeding tickets arrive on my door mat, and apart form the odd moment of over excitement I think I have been using my right foot fairly demurely. I no longer feel that I am just a passenger in a car with its own agenda.

One of my favorite things to do is look at my reflection in shop windows and glass bus stops. In my honest opinion the car looks the absolute business, and I don’t mind saying that I may well give up men entirely for the rest of the year to focus solely on my car. I am besotted and will go into random trances when I see her outside my house. Sad, but true.

I was taking Princess for a walk late this evening on Exmouth sea front. As usual there was a row of boy racer types with their gonorrhoea-ridden girlfriends. I parked as far away from them as possible, as I find them a little threatening. I took Princess for her walk on the beach, and was just trying to discreetly pick up her poo (responsibly dog owner that I am  ) when the lot of them relocated nearer me. I went back to my car and immediately locked all the doors, and thought about going home when this feeling of not wanting to be intimidated anymore came over. I turned on my remap and waited until the little light flashed. I started to drive off when an 306 with blue washer jets and an exhaust that sounded like an angry fart, tried to over take in a stupid place, and I just rooted my foot to the floor, he was a few meters ahead when my revs hit the 2000 rpm and I shot forward leaving him behind in a cloud of smoke. I did feel a tiny bit guilty and stupid that I had sunk to his level – but so simple and how satisfying! I don’t think I am breaking the Briskoda rules by posting that this happened, because I didn’t actually break the speed limit. He ended up having to pull in behind me again, and then started following me:eek: . I just set the cruise control to 1 mph below the speed limit until they got bored and left me alone.

What made the moment for me was that all him mates saw him loose to a girl and a dog in a diesel Skoda. Classic  !

poor vlad. r. i. p.

Sounds like you're enjoying your purchase

What cupholder broke out of interest, didn't think there was anything you could break on the standard one?

Surely, the car's name is Sooty?

good girl! IMO the accelarator pedal should have two positions, either fully on or fully off, not anywhere in between.

It is the drop down cup holder that hides the vag com USB port thingy. The lump of plastic that prevents it falling totally open has come off. I took it to the Peugeot garage where I used to work to show it off, and the dam thing broke! I expect I deserved it.

Spent ages at Skoda, they are so friendly.

ahh the can holder chiller

Thats a cool little story

Sounds exactly how I was when I got my vRS!!

If you're averaging just over 41mpg, you need to be changing into higher gears earlier - try and hit the magic 50mpg! I can return 52mpg over a full tank of short journeys.

I think Joff's right. I am now getting around 50mpg most of the time even when wellying the car quite a lot - Leicester to Liverpool and back was 50mpg exactly today.

Has improved a bit since new - definitely loosening up - so your car should be better as it's run in some.

I saw the same 306 this evening when I went for my walk, and he drove at my dog. I couldn't believe it.

Idiot.

I'll look out for you posing around Exeter - whereabouts are you?

I be from the village of Aylesbeare, just off the airport.

Often spotted in Exmouth more than Exeter.

Oooooooh, are you one of those people that flys little planes off Woodbury Common?

What an idiot!:finger:

Go beat him again!!! and again!!!

(don't forget to try turning off the ASR - get a tiny bit more response......)

Cheers:thumbup:

Bas

I love the fact that if a 18 year old lad posted that story without walking princess ;) than they would get slated for being unsafe.

I'd have done the same thing though :)

Yep - black and totally standard apart from two vRS stickers at the front of each front door (my own little bit of individuality and a bargain at 4.99 off ebay  ).

There is another black one opposite the Hungry Fox by the scumerfield near Broadclyst - you might see them although I think they're oldies! :thumbdwn:

Watch out for me when your tearing around the lanes near Whimple - I often cycle around there with my daughter!
