Anybody got a Geodesy GPS detector?

Featured Replies

Just as title really, have seen them for

I had one for 18 months with the Plus upgrade

Very simple and does just what it says on the box. If you don't want infromation overload, its the one to get. I found it to be very accurate and if anything it erred on the side of caution.

Would I buy another? Yes.

I've had one for the same time as Jon as well. There wasn't that much choice at the time and it lacks the features/cosmetics of the newer alternatives.

I still use mine - I dial up roughly monthly to download the new database, which takes a while, but as Jon says it normally errs on the cautious side.

I find it most useful off the motorway normally and in areas I don't know, where you are looking at road/street names rather than grey cameras !

Worth a go for

It mentions an additional option of Sat Nav. Has anyone got this part? Does it work well, and is there much cost?

Don't think it can work as Sat Nav, just a camera alert device. There is no way to take the information out of the Geodesy to a PDA or Laptop, which is what I wanted to do.

Been looking into arranging a group buy on GPS radar detectors.........should go ahead around February....depending on what the others want to do.

At the moment there choice is:

Origin Blue 2 -

Or get a pocket PC and GPS 'mouse' and use TomTom2 (route planner) and checkPOInt for GPS speed cameras, have a look on pocketgps.co.uk for the speedcamera database.

Used it with this (and TomTom1 before 2) for a good 18 months now, works brilliantly, with the added benefit of being able to add your own warning areas.

I bought the All-in-one solution - hp1940, bluetooth gps, tomtom navigator 2, car mounting/power kit (for GPS and IPAQ) - 500 quid for the lot from pc world.

I've got Checkpoint as well and it's pretty accurate and you can't beat it for price :)

I've had the Geodesy Plus with Radar detector for about two years now and find it excellent. Thinking about changing it for something with laser detector also so would be very interested in group buy later.

Brian,

check out the new Group Buy forum.

Cheers.

Adrian.
