Fabia Symphony ICE help.

Featured Replies

I've decided to give up on the factory fit MS402 that came in my Fabia (w-reg) after it started flicking between radio and cassette intermittently. Before I get my replacement I have a few questions to ask though if anyone can help.

Firstly, can I use a head unit like the one pictured below in my dash without having to fit a facing plate (it is a skoda symphony, but not one specifically for the fabia, to my knowledge.). If I can, will it be a flush fit? (I'm a stickler for neatness!)

My second question is this: Can I place a VAG group in-dash CD changer in the slot below on the Fabias dashboard, as it seems about the right size. The slot I mean is the cubby beneath the radio and above the fan controls, currently just a storage slot.

Any help would be much appreciated :D

Thanks

That headunit will need the adaptor to look neat, only £3 from your local dealer.

And i cant see why the changer wouldnt fit.

Thanks for the help

So do you reckon its worth getting one of these players or a more expensive Fabia symphony?

IMO look aftermarket.

The Skoda stuff isn't brilliant and if you want radio/cassette and a cd-changer, you can do far better. Also, do you want MP3 on the changer? AFAIK VAG units don't do this.

I disagree. Wouldnt bother with aftermarket headunit on a modern car (unless its really ****) I find the standard fabia symphony fitted in the vRS is more than good enough. If you want to upgrade the amps then use the pre outs to power an external amp like I do for my sub amp.

Aftermarket stuff have too many pointless toys.

Except Becker units... or Nakamichi:drool:

Indeed :)

Thanks for your posts. I think I'll go for the Fabia Symphony, as it does everything I want, because I already have an Ipod + Itrip and Revo radio. I just need the head unit to play these through and occasionally cd's.

Cheers

Matt

But how have you managed this John, i've just put a Symphony unit back into my car and can't work out how to connect the amp, I've got the normal cable you usually plug into the ports at the back of after market head units, but the Symphony unit doesn't have these.

You need one of these to give you the tranditional phone preouts. http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/preamp.asp :)
