Smash & Grab

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Skoda UK are not a organisation I would recommend at the moment.I had my car broken into (06 Octavia 4x4) just over aweek ago, they smashed the passenger side rear window and stole my wifes handbag (which was hidden in the boot and contents to numerous to mention - Credit cards, House keys etc. Churchill Insurance recommended Autoglass for window repair, but no glass in stock, would have to order from Skoda and would be a week (Autoglass fitted a temporary perspex sheet). The glass arrived but the packaging was marked up wrong ,and they had sent a right hand piece instead of a L/H piece - Autoglass said that this has happened a few times just lately and that they had a problem with wrongly marked packaging.

A new order would be another week to 10 days- not happy at all with this situation I rang Skoda customer service, they told me they had no knowledge of this situation ,and told me Autoglass should contact the glass supplier , I pointed

out, again that Skoda was supplying the glass , He said we dont supply glass- this is the customer service dept (clenching fists, I am a Skoda customer with a problem) I asked him if he might consider getting in touch with Autoglass and try and sort the problem and ring me back, he said he would,.....he hasnt.

I like my car very much, but this is the second time in a few months that I have been waiting too long for parts (A/C commpressor) ...........Skoda pull your finger out or a bad reputation will be hard to reverse. Sorry for going on but losing faith now.

:finger: BILL

smash & grab..... that sounds like the name of a convienence store!

it seems that skoda customer care couldn't care less about customers any more. whenever i try to phone anybody like that i always get put on hold for hours on end.... it make you wonder why you bothered to by somthing from them..

Doesnt sound good.

Maybe a well worded letter to SUK to show your dis-satisfaction would help your cause... Or at least highlight the problem...

Sorry to hear of your problems!

Wouldnt of happened a few years ago - myparents got 1st class service when they bought the first Octavia to leave the showroom - they had loads of time and even sent flowers a week later...!

Now Skoda are selling shed loads, so they will no doubt have the same chaacteristics as other main marques (ie treating customers as numbers)...

Not good...

TBH Autoglass are not that good either, when I had mine broke into overnight I phoned the 24 Hour Number spoke to Autoglass who stated the Liverpool Van had one on it and could fit, however I had to wait for the Police SOCO so arranged to visit my local Autoglass, who said they had none as it was a new Car despite nearly 2 years old at the time and I would have to wait. I told then the Liverpool Van had one and they arranged for that one.

The new piece of glass fitted I am assuming is not a genuine Skoda unit as it doesn't have the Skoda symbol on it as all my other windows have. So suggest Autoglass source from elsewhere.

Either way it's crap service. Mine got broke into early hours of a Saturday morning on a Bank Hol weekend but still managed to get a new piece of glass fitted on the Bank Hol Monday morning.

Great cars **** customer service.

Think it really depends on who you get answering the phone mate. I have had people answering which if they were near by i would have waited for them to come out, and others who have bent over backwards to help.

I think in all cases you are best taking problems to the dealers and having them deal with the problems. Also they are more likely to get the parts quicker than autoglass. Your insurer should allow you to go to a franchised garage? I know mine does?

I know where you are coming from though.... hope it gets sorted quickly :)

I'm still waiting (two months now) for a new cruise control switch and a new key fob. Dealers hve told me to wait. I emailed Skoda CS and I got a phone call two days letter saying the cruise control was now in stock at my local dealer and the key fob to follow shortly. Get myself booked in.

Problem 1 is that they assumed I wanted to use my local dealer, but I didn;t as Prestige in Coventry are very poor.

Problem 2 - amazing how two dealers have told me to wait and yet one simple email gets the problem (sort of) resolved. I think Skoda are definately suffering from stock shortages - but it's not good and is starting to cause them some image concerns. I can't believe they do not have any cruise control stalks or key fobs - after all thee are the exact same parts used across the whole VAG group!. I bet if I had a

Skoda are definitley having stock problems at the minute - I'm in need of 2 front wheel bearings and I was told last week that there is a 2 week wait for them.

It wouldn't be too bad if the car was just a run around, but I do about 700 miles a week and due to the noise, my hearing is suffering badly.

700 mile son broken wheel bearings!

Erm surely thats a safety risk, as if they sieze you can kiss your wheels goodbye.

I'm hoping that they won't seize - keeping an ear open all the time for a change in the noise and I can feel them getting rougher and rougher, so hopefully I'll get a good indication of impending doom.

Problem is, I reported a problem 2 weeks after getting the car and now 3 months later the problem has only been diagnosed with me prompting Skoda with a complaint. So, plenty of comeback there if anything does go wrong.

Plus, I'm apparently getting an ECU software update for the 1.9Tdi to get rid of a terrible flat spot / hesitation problem around 2000 rpm.
