Complete RHD mirror unit cost?

Featured Replies

Anyone any clue as to how much a complete replacement unit will cost, for a Fabia VRS?

I assume they can be changed in a short period of time? - ie, a few hours?

Lorry driver damn near killed me, had it not been for a last second swerve. Thankfully, I survived...the wing mirror did not.

RightHandSide...not RHD...

well my octavia one just cost me £122 not including fitting or spraying, and from what i can see the fabia ones look the same style shape etc.

you can fit it yourself not too much hastle really, think if id have let skoda dealer do it the full job inc spraying would have been around £240

If I recall, they are several hundred pounds, then the painting on top of that.

Has the whole thing bust or just the shell as thats available separately.

Cheers guys.

Manny - there's about 20% of the 'arm', all the wires are still there, albeit hanging loose, no casing, no mirror. Beyond any form of repair, sadly, resigned to being covered in a Tesco's carrier bag.

I'm so livid at the moment, I just want the thing sorted, so might get a dealer to sort the whole thing. Typical...one more year and I get protect no claims...

I was thinking worst case £250, but I hope it's something they can get hold of quickly and have a fast turnaround.

Lee - is yours the heated, eletronic one?

I reckon it's -

6Y2 857 502 BG GRU £79.07 plus painting and fitting

Just had a chat with a guy at work. He's friend is a painter, so the primered look is going to have to stay. I think I can fit it myself. Unscrew from the inside, remove, put new one on, etc...

Stu - Looking at the pdf parts like from JHMButtco, under Mirrors it's part number 6Y2 857 502 AF GRU, @£59.83.

Where are you getting that part reference from?

What's the diff between the AF and BG bit?

6Y2 857 502 AF GRU - rear view mirror (aspherical- wide angle) (electrically operated and heated) primed

6Y2 857 502 BG GRU - rear view mirror (aspherical- wide angle) (electrically

operated and heated) for models with electrically operated windows primed

As ever it's best to phone your dealer and confirm the number suitable for your specific model.

Ah, thanks Stu. I'll print this out, take it to the dealer down the road and order one at lunch time.

Thanks guys.

Briskoda to the resque! Hope it's sorted by Trax. A primed mirror isn't going to look good on the stand. :(

Like I said I cannot be 100% that is the right number so let the dealer tell you what the number is. If they order it and it's wrong you'll still have to pay cause it's special order.

Will do - thankyou.

£130, painted, supplied, by Tuesday next week. Will have a go at fixing it on myself.

Now, to survive the commute without a RHS mirror!

Cheers guys.

I was thinking worst case

I paid £144 at the end of last year, inc parts, painting and fitting.

Steve

**hmm wonders why the octavia one is so much to buy without all the above - different in some way???? Or have i just been ripped off by Bickerton skoda???

Not sure about the number, Stu. The guy took my, er, wassit - chassis number thing that's below the windscreen, and from that worked out what I needed. It was £80, so going on value, yes. I'll confirm when I get a receipt. :)

Can't imagine they'd charge me a lot if I did need it fitting, but I'm going to try taking the old one off this weekend, to see what's involved.

VRStu - the part number was 6Y2 857 502BGGRU.

Laser Skoda in Harlow did the mirror, painting and fitting for £160.10. Pretty reasonable.

Thats what we said then isn't it.
