Remote window closing from keyfob...

Featured Replies

I don't know if any of you are aware of this device which flashes the convenience unit on a Golf to allow remote window closing from the key fob ? ;)

This from a group buy thread on UK MkIV's ..

"IF WE GET 10 PEOPLE I CAN DO THIS FOR £21 DELIVERED TO YOU! (ROYAL MAIL SIGNED FOR)

Ladies and gentleman

I always wanted to be able to wind my windows up and down via the keyfob - unlike the Audis and more expensive VWs, the only way to get past this was to install a device like the alientech - its a mission to install to be honest - UNTIL NOW!!

FITTING IS DIY!

the unit plugs into the OBD port (the vag com port) in the car and takes two minutes to flash

NOT ALL MK4S CAN BE FLASHED!

SEE YOUR 46 MODULE (convinience module). IF IT STARTS FROM "1C0 959 799 **" THEN IT CAN BE UPDATED!! "1C0 959 799 **" THEN IT CAN BE UPDATED!!

Have a look at:

and scroll down to KVW100

so who DOESNT want one!!"

I know there is supposed to be an Alientech device that does something similar but this looks good to me (see links above) so much so that I've ordered one from the group buy for my Golf !

I'm NOT RUNNING A GROUP BUY but rather posting this just in case anyone fancies checking up or knows if this works on the Fabia convenience unit as well ??

The Fabia system is different to the Golf/Octavia.

Bit of a shame though might of bought one for SWMBO's Fabia as well. :(

IIRC there's something called an Alien Window kit - do a search...

You can't get it for the fabia. ;)

Boo! :(

Why the Frick not????? Bah Humbug!

Lummox can you explain the difference???

Its a different configuration of control units and how they communicate with each other in thier operation. Basically a 5v system.

so it just won't work at all????? damn you VW!!!

Only way round it is get an aftermarket system fitted. I used to have a toad Ai606 to my astra gsi, it was fab, total closure, tilt sensor, microwave sensor, you fart near it and it knows about it lol, wouldnt touch a clifford tho. Just a thought....

I don't know if I missed a beat here somewhere... :dopey:  Anyway, I have a 2006 model estate elegance and it has remote window closing from the original key fob. Its a handy feature. I think that it is on the most basic petrol models too.

Very interesting - so it sounds like (another!) hardware restriction on the UK cars? :(

Hmm, now my wifes Fabia estate Elegance has (as standard) electric rear windows, I wonder if that makes any difference ?

I'm off on holiday in 10 minutes time (just passing the time while waiting for a taxi to the airport) but I'll need to check my convenience unit number when I return in case it is (with 4 electric windows) different & suitable for the mod.

Got this at my VRs 2004 (b4 the facelift), but made by my friend who flashed some unit in the car. It

It was one of the first things I tried on my elegance estate. Remote button definately doesn't close the windows on mine. But then it is an early one.

Hi P2M,

does you friend charge for the operation of reflashing (usage of vagcom, interface) or for the procedure (how to do it).

Ask him if he wants to share the info, as a member of a forum to another ;).

He's not loosing business since I imagine he cannot do it international.

Someone said to me that Awesome Sell a power window kit thing that plugs into your convienence unit and allows the windows to close??????

Sarah can you confirm or deny???

That's the unit I bought in the MkIV Golf forum group buy for my Golf and it works well.

I reflashed my Golf and it now closes all the windows on one touch of the remote and opens them on hold down (until the desired opening amount is achieved). :D

I didn't realise the KVW100 could also reflash the Fabia conveniance unit to do this.
