Checked the oil today and running very low after only 4,000 miles is that normal? Topped it up with nearly a whole litre of w5-50 then someone told me that is the wrong oil, bit worried about both things. Can anyone out there tell me if I have stuffed up? is that usage normal? Cheers guys.

It's typical that they will use a fair amount of oil when new then not much after.

Mine was on minimum after 6000 miles.

As for the oil , I just went to a VW dealer and bought some oil from them , sorry

I've just covered 11,000 miles and the car has had bang on 1 litre of oil. £13.99 a bottle.

As long as it's VW approved you can't go wrong.

I put a litre in at about 6000 miles. From what I gather if you go easy on the car it will use more oil. I went fairly easy on my car for a few hundred miles but i know people who went easy for a couple of thousand miles in cars with PD engines and their cars used a lot more oil.

Agree with what Johnny says - if you drive the car properly () from the outset, it'll bed in quicker and use hardly any oil (and smoke less too)
