just that i was told by a tuner that te early golf 1.8t's had bigger valve heads that revved better and more freely. never looked into it myself.

they probably rev more freely because the piston/rod assemblies are lighter. i seem to remember that ceratain engine codes hav slightly different porting too, but most of the heads are the same.

the V8 thing ain't happening without an extensive rebuild of the whole car

might aswell buy an RS6' date=' easily cheaper.[/quote']

That's where the lottery comes in! Might be better to rebody a RS6 than modify an octavia!

An RS6 engine in a superb however..........:D

i'd still rather have an RS6. the engine won't go straight into the superb either due to a lack of a transmission tunnel of any real size. an RS6 engine FWD would be pointless.

Has anyone ever considered or done the 3.2 V6 into an octy or would that throw up the same mounting problems?

Engine out of an R32 would fit ok I expect as it's the same chassis and even built in the same factory as VW used Skoda to build the R32.

One thing to remember which hasn't been mentioned is that you will have to get you log book changed if you swap the engine as the engine number will change.

yeah, you would have to bring the whole lot over. engine/gearbox subframe driveshafts etc. would be a nice conversion
