JBS Stage 2 Short Shift Kit - Review

Featured Replies

As some of you will know I previously had a Diesel Geek Sigma short shift kit that I was never happy with.

Well a month or so ago I had a JBS stage 2 short shift kit fitted, it reduces front to back throw (stage 1) and side to side (stage 2). It's based on the OEM design so retains a shift weight as standard to reduce notchiness.

I'm very happy with the kit, feels much more OEM in it's action but with vastly reduced throw. It requires very little effort to engage gears unlike the diesel geek. In normal use there is no real benefit, however for spirited driving it really comes into it's own and makes a noticable improvement to driving. Most satisfying for me are the 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th gear changes when accelerating hard, they are very quick and smooth and I believe much of this is down to the reduced side to side movement. Gear changes are noticably quicker, with reduced movement without being overly notchy and difficult to engage.

I would definetely recommend this kit to anyone considering a short shift.

Now if only they can get a jog on with their 5 speed one :(
