Just sold a car, well not totally gone through as I want to retain the private plate.

So what do I need to do? Can I put the plate on retention and transfer logbook into new owners name? or will the log book get sent away?

Someone on here must have done this...

Is there a DVLA office near you? If so you can go in there and they will sort everything out for you there and then:thumbup: They will put your private plate on retention (if you've not got another car to put it on??) and give you a new tax disc with the original reg number on it. They will even send away the reg doc with the new keepers details. Hope this helps and makes sense??

There's 2 DVLA offices near me, one in Peterborough that full of eastern european's getting driving licenses and one in northampton.

Will the car get a completely new reg or will it be the one that was on it before I transfered the plate?

it was, i mean still is. Apart from the clutch going, hence the reason why I sold her. 250 - 260 bhp was more than the clutch could take!

its a nice car, not 100%. Needs a small bit of work to get her 100% again, but i know hardly anything about cars. Would be ideal for someone like lummox that knows what he's doing.

Plus i need the money for a house deposit, before my mum finds out what I spent 5k on!
