Ideal unit would be Blu-ray/HD-DVD/Freeview twin tuner HD recorder.

I thought the licencing issues had put a stop to those!

Ideal unit for me would be a CD/HDCD/SACD/DVD/RMVB/DVI/WMV/Blu-ray/HD-DVD/Freeview twin tuner HD recorder, better still if it could LAN or wireless networked, so I could load rmvb/dvi on it.

I'll stick to a chipped X-Box for playback of downloaded media , a DVD player for shiny round disks and a hard drive twin tuner freeview PVR that can export files to my laptop for burning to disk.

Ok , so it's a few boxes and remotes but it does all I need and costs a lot less than a new gadget

But it does play CD's....

i'm sure LG are already selling one

Why am I the only one who doesnt find that scarey?

hhmm... can't see that unit selling terribly well what with the PS3 due not long after it and it being about half that price...

i dont find it scary i just know next year it will be less than half that price.

Oh and i dont have a HD telly

I agree, it wont sell well. First things on the market never do. Just look at early dvd players £300-£400 plus.

The PS3, however will sell to play these disks but having seen screenshots of the blu-ray player application from sony, the interface is confusing, initially there will be no separate remote either. That means you will need to use the wired PS3 controller to control playback.

I was under the impression the PS3 controllers are wireless jobbies... like the other 2 new consoles...

tbh i have no idea im a Nintendo fan boy so im only interested in the Wii :D

Yeah, out of all of them the Wii would be the one i would buy.

It's just a shame that no-one else will!!

The PS3 will be the daddy console when it's released, even if it doesn't deserve to be.

These new age consoles are just not the same, it'll never be like it was in the classic 16 bit wars days!!

Yeah when it's released... clicky

Heh , youngster.

8 bit is where it's at.

Hell , I've even got a 4 bit console in the loft somewhere

i'd like to see you play an HD DVD on it :)

And I'd like to see you play a Blu-ray movie on a HD DVD player :P

you dont believe all that rubbish about delays do you?

Supposed "leaks" to the press and all!

They know exactly when it's being released' date=' they just like tantalising people with false release dates incase they get bored of waiting and buy a rival machine, it's all publicity too, if there was no delay there would be nothing in the news at all![/quote']

TBH, I'm not that bothered... It does make one decision easier for me though.. that was whether or not to pre-order acouple of PS3's to sell on ebay...

Now it's not an xmas release I don't think it'll be worth the effort :)

Oh I 've been in to consoles since the beginning:O

It was just at its peak during the SNES/ Megadrive era when it was all Nintedo Vs Sega, Sony was but a LCD screen making 'Game & Watch' bit part in the games stakes!

I have consoles and computers in the loft (still got them all) starting with a grandstand 'Pong machine' in black and white, then the colour version, then an Atari 2600, then a Sega Master System and NES, then the Megadrive (got uk & jap spec ones) and SNES (got uk & US specs) N64, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game cube, PS1, & PS2!!

All interspersed with a few computers - Spectrum 48k, Spectrum 128k, Amiga 500, and Amiga 1200.

Just think how much I've spent over the years on hardware and games! (except the Amiga, good old X-copy:rolleyes: ).

All earnt with my hard earned saturday job money!
