It looks like a different variation again. It would be ideal to compare this to another one from the vRS and see if it is dimensionally the same.

If you are over my way at all you could have a look at mine.

1K0 711 051 J was fitted to the 55 plate and fitted straight in. This part is now deleted.

1K0 711 051 N was fitted to the 56 plate car which had a different sized spiggot' date=' smaller by approximately 1.5mm. This was easily rectified with the help of a friendly Briskodian and his trusty lathe :P . I have emailed Neuspeed to advise them but as yet no reply.

I don't know if this fits a diesel, perhaps someone who has one can check the part number on their car and advise.[/quote']

05 plate Octavia 2.0l tdi: 1K0 711 051 J

So the Octavia diesel has the same shifter, part number depending on age.

Airbox, pain in the backside to remove, but only 5 mins once you know how.

Nice one Jeff, good to know. I'll amend the first post.

I've now had this fitted for a week and just letting you know that after the initial 'awkwardness' of getting used to it I don't think I could be without it!. It just feels 'right'.

You gotta get one of these Dave ;) :P

If you get one and are worried drop by and I'll put it on for you.

Hi, were you able to source this in the uk, or did you order from the US? I like the sound of this but have found the 1st - 2nd shift on my 55 plate vRS to be a bit "sharp" & "snatchy" at times, is it likely to make it worse?

Ours came from the US but it can be bought from Awesome in the UK.

I don't see how it would make things worse, I love mine and Steve's was great for the Czech trip.

Nothing to wory about, this is a very well made compontent and just feels 'right'

As makefish / Stu have said, great bit of kit and it feels like a "sporty" gear change should imho.

driving the wifes new polo today and it feels like your moving 4' between gear changes :D

Having scoured this thread i'm still left asking one question........

Will this fit a Fabia vRS????

Will this fit a Fabia vRS????

Nope, it's for the Golf Mk5 platform m8, these particular ones are on Mk2 Octy vRS's

Damn and blast!!!!

That looks like a very well made component. (But as a mechanical engineer i'm a sucker for CNC machined shiny things!! Might buy one for my mantle-piece.......)

Will this fit my fabia 2.0 l?

I think this answers your question.

Fitting is a doddle and takes around 10 minutes and the included instructions are excellent.

Only tools required are a 13mm socket and a small flat screwdriver and a dash of grease or Vaseline. (Additionally - tools to remove Airbox on non vRS models)

Sorry to come back to this again, but how much of "a doddle" is it to fit? I have spoken to Awsome GTI and they can supply the part, but before I order I want to be sure that a) it's the correct part & B) that I am able to fit it!!

I'm not a total loss with tools, but........., are the instructions available online so I can see just what is involved? If it's beyond me then I may as well let Awsome sort out the fitting as well!!

On a vrs it's no more than 5 minutes. Slightly more for a TDi as I believe you'll need to move the airbox.

You really can't go wrong cause it only fits one way. It does come with good fitting instructions.

I would perhaps think of a group buy on this as I know of at least three others intersted in getting one.

Make that "4" interested, unless folks have all done their own thing! Now I've had a proper look at the fitting & from what you guys have all said, I am convinced that I could do this with out making a total hash of things!!:D (touch wood!)

So how about it?

I've just discoverd the 'review' section of Briskoda - Wonderful.

I saw this short-shifter on Awesome's website a couple of weeks ago, and having now read the reviews it is a definite on my 'shopping list' of goodies for my forthcoming new vRS TDI. (after Koni FSDs and RallyFlapz).
