So, anyone missing anything now?

I found a couple of useful things today. My towing eye, which evaded my search before the Ring trip, and my spare bulb pack which also evaded me for the last stint into Europe.

Packed some tools into a tools "man-bag" for the trip now.

Writing some CD-Rs with MP3s for the trip, now I've got a case to stop me just chucking CDs around in the car. :D :speaker:

Camcorder and digicam are charged and ready for some abuse.

Routemap from Steve printed out, Roadtrip pack perused and absorbed.

Getting info about how much the motorway pass is

Car is pretty much shipshape now. Anyone taking spare PD oil? I might bring some I have leftover I reckon. :)

What might I be missing? I'd better write down the P&O reference somewhere handy I guess.

Can sort out a Czech gag if you like. Quite acceptable in Holland.;)

I'll be taking a couple of litres of longlife oil and my toolbox, and a towrope for you Jason.

I might purchase some new pads whilst i'm there, as mine have done 4k now, and are nearly gone :D

Got my bulb kit, first aid kit, furry triangle (hi Loz :P ), warning triangle for you Jason, hi vis vest for waiting at the roadside with Jason......etc

And no beer for me on the trip at all.

The Czech Republic has a zero-tolerance policy on alcohol consumption, so even a single beer before driving will potentially get you in trouble.

As said in the tour tips done by Steve.

Not long to go now. See you all in Germany, where myself and Loz will be awaiting your tired selves :D

Motorway Pass

whats that?

also do I need any extra items in the car

i.e. things like a reflective triangle and stuff like that ???

I've never driven off the UK before so please don't make too much stuff up :o

Motorway passes are avaliable at the point of entry and garages. With us having foriegn plates, getting one asap is a good idea.

Will - essentials are

First aid kit (basic one will do)

Fire Extinguisher

Hi Vis Vest

Bulb Kit

Both Parts of your lisense

Your V5 (car log book)

Insurance document

Headlamp deflectors

If you have none of the above by now, yer a numpty. P+O sell a full kit on the boat for about £50.00 which contains everything you will legally need to carry.

Also, whilst in France, briefly as it is, it's compulsory to stop and give assistance at an accident.......

Police tend to frequent picnic areas in France too, and petrol stations, and anywhere else Brits stop.

Belgian Police are difficult to spot as the markings on the cars are quite discreet. If you see any motorcyclists with Red helmets, its more than likely the police.

Police in Holland - doubt you will see any, as you are only passing through for 20 mins.

In Germany Police cars are green. Travelling too close to the vehicle in front will get you a large fine, as will doing anything illegal. I mean a really large fine.

Don't be thinking all German motorways are flat out. Most have a speed limit in force. Only when you see a symbol similar to our National speed limit sign, can you go flat out. Many overhead gantries are equipped with gatso type devices too.

As for Czech, no idea, never been. Don't forget to get a stamp on your passport to show your lesser travelled mates :)

200CZK for the 15 day motorway Pass and we get it on the outskirts of Czech

do you need any passes for Germany France of Belgium ???

Ok what else will I need to sort out

do I need a Red Triangle thingy, bulb kit, 1st aid kit ???? and where can I get all this from ???

Ooo shifty just posted

So I need to get hold of:

First aid kit (basic one will do)

Fire Extinguisher

Hi Vis Vest

Bulb Kit

Headlamp deflectors

Will you clot........

Go to Halfrauds and buy a full kit if you don't have any of it. Cheaper than P+O sell it for.

Which GE/CZ border crossing are you guys gonna to go thro´?

Tigger: unfortunatelly not on Thu mate :) But surely on Sat morning ;)

Just wanted to know this as then I would tell you something about the highway you will have to use on your way to Prague ;)

I wanna go now....can we go now? Got no work on here, I could get another day off!! Shall I book tomorrow off?? hehe!! *tries to temp Dave with a stop at the nurburgring on the way if we go a day early!* ;)

Looks like we are entering on the D5 at Waidhaus.

Afraid not :( . Lots to do before we go.

Damn tempted to call in on the way back, but I don't think my brake pads will last a lap :( . So another no.

Shifty: It means Rozvadov on Czech side ;) This highway is quite new (app 4 years) so it will be a nice driving for you guys. Its second part, which is starting behind Plzen is older, but still in good condition until you get to Beroun. Then it’s nothing special, but Beroun is about 20km from Prague only. There are only few junctions on the way from Rozvadov to Plzen, which means the traffic is usually very low. In addition, the police don’t care about this road a lot so when you get on the straight sections you can let go your beasts faster then 130kph ;). Anyway take heed of the overtaking trucks - they don’t care you are much faster and are able to start speeding just in front of you – especially Polish truckers are mad.

You're soooo mean :( What is there to do before we go? I only have to pack, and I'm getting pretty good at speed packing now!! And you never do anything anyway!! :P

I wasn't aware about a fire extinguisher being a legal requirement!. Best go and get one :o

Ooh, I've just remembered, you were in my dream last night Dave! No, seriously!!

It was really...um...weird.com!
