1.8T 4x4 Fabia anyone?

Featured Replies

Not really, but why not??

I was just thinking that it should be possible (anything is) to create a 1.8T 4x4 Fabia with 300bhp......reasonably *cough* easily.

The bits required:

Fabia vRS

Audi TT

Workshop/fabrication facilities.

Engine tuning by Jabba.

Simple eh??

Fensport have taken a new shape Celica and combined it with a Jap spec 4x4 Corolla and have created a beastie that is essentially what the Celica GT4 should be if it were produced in the new shape.

I've seen all manner of conversions......Peugeot 205's with Escort Cosworth running gear, Peugeot 306's and Golfs with twin engines, Ford Ka's with Mitsubishi Evo running gear (REALLY).........I reckon it's about time some VAG specialist gave us a bit of a monster!!

Skoda have done the job with the WRC car, but it's a bit....erm....spartan for everyday road use........oh yeah, it's probably a bit pricey too!!

If I have the cash, I'd do it as a showpiece and would try to keep it looking as standard as possible.....heh heh.

So....if any of you fancy it and want a donor Fabia, you can have it as long as I get it back for nothing when it's completed.

You would basically have to use the TT chassis, and then somehow try and wedge the Fabia bodywork on top of it I think? You'd need to chop out the fabia chassis at the back loads to get room for a propshaft and the rear diff.

It sounds like a fun project though - but personally I would go for a diesel 4x4 using the gear from an octy TDI, with a fully blown TDI engine. :)

a complete waste of money using cars so new as it would probably cost in excess of 40k to build due to the amount of hours required to do it. and it wouldn't even be a fabia anyway just a TT with a fabia body bolted to it

Agree with Bengie - plenty of 300bhp 4x4 cars already available for the price of a new Fabia ;)

Yeah I agree, but if you were a VAG "tuner" such as Dubsport, it would make a good showcar.

I actually think it would be quite an easy conversion to shove a 1.8T into a Fabia vRS. The 4x4 bit would be harder, granted!

I know it may not be sensible.....after all.....you can buy better for less money, but when you are modifying cars to that extent, you aren't looking at the economics of it now are you?

If we only looked at money when considering performance cars, we'd all be driving second hand old nails with monster engines.....Sapphire Cosworths and the like......300bhp/

I would make a good advert for the company but wouldnt make alot of buisness sense. Spending 40k of the companies money on developing a car that no one is going to want, bit pointless really.

I can supply a car

i got a quote from JBS for switching my fabia vRS engine to the 1.8T out of a TT. £6k and 5 weeks work.

to make a fabia 4x4 would take a massive amount of work as it has no transmisson tunnel, no space for rear diff and nothing to put the rear suspension on as you would need the complete rear end from something really. then the electronic nightmare would be worse. ask J when swapping from a PD100 to a PD130 and thats a relatively simple swap.

Just buy an EVO and be done with it.

or a little known mazda ;)

Skoda also made a prototype Fabia RS "WRC" with this engine and 4x4. There was a rumour they were going to put 2000 to production but they never materialised, stamped out by the powers that be??

That front bodykit is pure comedy - looks like it's wearing the car equivalent of one of those nose, glasses and moustache combinations.

Basically a repro of the WRC kit.
