"Toothing" - sending messages via bluetooth

Featured Replies

I've read in the pepers about a thing called "toothing" whereby you send a message to another mobile phone using blue tooth.

How on earth do you do this?

We want to wind up a guy in the office who is clueless on technology but has a bluetooth enabled handset ;)

I searched for bluetooth devices but it wanted me to pair with his phone. Obviously doing that would alert him to the pairing and he'd then ask questions.

I have a Nokia 6600 which, I would have expected to have the ability to "tooth" as required.

Try searching for bluejacking as that is what it used to be called.

BlueJacking only really works on older handsets...

The easiest way to do it on nokias is to make a note then send it via bluetooth

newer phones wont accept this without permission.. but older phones dont need pairing.

I thought it was called sharking and it was for picking up complete strangers and having sex ?

Got it.

You have to create a new contact who's name is the message you want to send. You then send the contact via bluetooth.

We called my phone "The devil" and sent a message saying "are you ready yet?" - he accepted the message and looked puzzled but said nothing

You should have a "notes" feature in your phone somewhere.. it will work through this too.

on my 6230i its under the calender menu.

if you find out what his phone is called, rename yours and then send a message to your boss!

been doing this for months lol! Ever tried it at a rugby match with erm say 75,000 people there:thumbup:
