VRS 2 power loss

Featured Replies

Hi I noticed a loss of power the other night, which seems to be still here.

It seems as if the turbo has fallen off as the acceleration is now very poor compared to normal.

Everything seems OK no warning lights and no suspicious noises.

I have spoken to a technical friend of mine who worked for VAG and suggests that it is the air metering sensor is playing up.

he has replaced several over the years.

Any other ideas ?

Octy Vrs 2 Jan 06 16500 miles, serviced at 14K last month.

Thanks

Sounds like your friends advice is correct to me, this happens especially often to the 1.8T engine, but could ofcourse also happens 2.0T to. Post back then you have change the air metering and let us hear if the problem gone away, good luck anyway

Could be a problem with the diverter valve, seems to be causing issues at the momment.

As suspected air mass sensor faulty,

supposed to be fitted today but out of stock and on back order ?

Has anyone else had one go wrong ?

Slowly getting used to the slower speed but still miss the acceleration :(

Try taking the MAF out and cleaning it with IPA or a suitable solvent (I used servisol safeclean 50 spray).

Spray it on or put somein a bag and shake it, let the MAF dry off and then put it back in.

That sometimes worked for the MK I Octy, but obviously only when the problem was a dirty MAF as opposed to one that was just jiggered.
