coolant light flashing and 3 beeps

Featured Replies

got in the car this morning i put the keys in the ignition turned them but i did not start engine so all lights on the dash were on whilst i rolled a fag.

Suddenly i get the coolant warning so knocked igintion off popped the bonnet unscrewed the water bottle there was i tiny hiss level was fine, so i did it back up

tried it again and all was fine drove to work lovely.

So i am just wondering what all that was about any thoughts anyone

Hi

The expansion tanks on these have a sensor in them , and the sensor is usually at fault if the level is fine.

It is saying that the level is low , when in fact it isnt.

I think it could be the expansion tank that requires replacing.

It is quite a common fault.

If it does need one , it is not too big a job and they are not that expensive if you go to GSF

May also be worth thinking about a seal for the cap too while your at it

Mine used to do that on cool/cold mornings if parked on a slope with the car facing up the slope.

As soon as the car was level I'd turn off then re-start and it was fine.

Just add a smidge of coolant and it'll be fine.

nice one thanks for your help

Mine did exactly the same thing.

Darn those sloping driveways.:P

I had this, told the dealer r.e. sensors and expansion tank replacement (I was under warranty at that stage), he told me just to put a bit more coolant in. Its never done it since. :)
