... out there know if you can re-set the service light on tavia mk2's with Vag-Com

I think so, I'll have to have a better look at the weekend though

Can you reset it with the reset button whilst starting or is that just the reset for the counter until the service.

I reset my counter accidently, so if above doesn't do it then my light should still come on at 10k miles.

Perhaps you should "ask a Tech" that way someone with some knowledge of Skodas will be able to help.

Bloody ameteurs

;)

Been here?

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: VW Service Interval Reminders

FWIW, if you disable the reminder "manually" by using the buttons on the cluster, you are switching to non-flexible (non-longlife) service intervals. So if in doubt always use the diagnostic method.

thanks for that, most helpfull unlike certain members  but that is for the old tavia and fabia's, the new octavia i'm led to belive uses a different method on the 5051 diag machine and the 1552 machine isn't capable of re-setting hence my original Q but thanks anyway.

If this method would not be suitable for your car, I wouldn't have posted it.

You have PM Chap.

You have PM Chap.

PM's suck - ehy don't you post right away here?

i take it that you have sucessfully done this on a mk2 octavia?

Yes.

i have been reliably informed by someone in the know that you can't use the same process for the octavia mk1's and the fabia's (of which i know off by heart, and the link that you put on the forums leads you to the same set of instructions).

I have no clue what your reliable source is, but your source is wrong.

So can you confirm that you have been able to do this ?

Not sure how often I have to say this, but this will be the last time I'm wasting my time with telling you that it works. So yes, I can confirm that.

Then Thank You Very Much For Your Help.

May be a silly question but are you using the correct cable that's compatible with the Octy Mk2?
