coolant sensor (110TDi)

Featured Replies

Just been to the dealer again so that they can have another look at my turbo issues. This time they came up with 17664 (coolant sensor) short. Anyone know the price for one of these? I am tempted to replace it before it next goes back to the dealer.

Should this have any affect on the turbo?

The car is booked in for a days worth diags on the 6th Oct so hopefully they will get to the bottom of the turbo issues by then....

Maybe the turbo doesn't boost cause the engine can't get rid of the heat type thing, but to be honest I havn't a clue.

Which sensor is it, if it is the one in the tank i think it might need a replacement tank, but if it was that one you would have a light on. Why not get it cleared with VAG COM and see if it comes back.

The dealer cleared it, but I have not had a chance to check with VAGCOM as to if the fault has reappeared.

Not sure when the sensor is for this.....

Found in the thermostat housing ' date=' very easy to replace (when engine cold) and you will notice a difference with it

My Haynes manual suggests draining the coolant level..... :-( or can I just swap them over, and then top up the level of coolant?

If you undo the expansion tank cap you should not loose that much.

Dont drain it.

Make sure you get a new seal for the sensor and replace quite quicly , you shouldn`t loose alot at all.

Top up tighten cap and away you go
