Mazda Renesis event - You lot missed a fantastic day out

Featured Replies

Yesterday I went along to the Mazda Renesis driving event - And I've not had so much fun in one day for a very long time!

Turned up bang on time as requested only to find a huge registration queue, got through this in about 40 mins and was then put into a holding pen where we waited for the morning session participants to finish off.

A great stunt show involving Various sporty Mazdas, grenade explosions, burning barrels, machine gun fire, a helicopter and a plane.

J turn lessons.

Passenger ride in an RX8 PZ round a drift course.

Laps of a go-kart track in a new MX5 (that turns in very badly)

Laps of the full Brunters circuit in an RX8 PZ.

Lots of free food and drink, lots of totty and lots of fun.

No effort was made to sell anything to us, there must have been 300 people there and I heard someone say they had 63 cars there, half MX5's half RX8's. But I guess there will now be 1200 people (300 per session) talking to others about Mazda cars at work this week.

Great stuff, glad it was a good day out and you got some fun driving in.

Mercedes do similar events in the US, I went to one although it was a coned course so you didn't get much above 40mph. Drove the SLK350, SL500 and the (new to the US) E320CDi there last year. They had an off road course too where you got chauffered in an ML then a G wagen. The G wagen felt so much better at it than the ML, unsurprisingly!

Yeah, glad you enjoyed it :(

We did

Passenger ride in a 6 MPS whilst the instuctor did J turns.

Driving an MX-5 doing handbrake turns (lots of fun)

Driving an RX-8 PZ round a track (what a car!):D

Driving an MX -5 round a short track getting timed.

Passenger ride in an RX-8 PZ whilst all hell broke loose, lots of drifting, handbrake turns, J turns, explosions and stuff.

It was really well organised and there was loads of food. The staff were really friendly and you didn't get chance to get bored. I took the wife who is a wheelchair user expecting her to spectate for most of the day, but they weren't having that. She was encouraged to go in all the cars as a passenger and had the best day ever. I would thoroughly recommend applying for summat like this in future if it comes up again.:D

I even saw a couple of ex Briskodians int carpark who were eyeing the Skud up in admiration. Good lads the pair of em.
