Enable full VAG-COM functionality

Featured Replies

When I got my OBD cable I got a copy of VAG-COM with it but I suspect it doesn't have the full functionality enabled.

I guess I would have to register with Rosstech and pay some sort of fee?

Or does anyone have a "cheat"? ;)

Pay and register! If people don't then there won't be any such software to buy plus support to back it up... :lamer:

I guess to register I would need an internet connection.......I got an old laptop from work running Windows 98 and I know it's missing some drivers for internet connectivity.

What a pain in the a**se!

Another VAG forum (UKMKIVS?) has just had their 4th or 5th group buy of VAG-COM-suitable cables.................rolleyes.gif

The full version doesn't seem to offer that much more (especially for a IIRC $99 full reg fee)

Do you run the obd tool through a serial port or a usb with adapter?

Serial port.....the laptop is use for VAG-COM doesn't have USB.......it's old and I got it free from my company as it's non M2K compliant.

Don't laugh, but I'm just getting hold of an extended serial port cable to start with... and using my desktop :D

Then I'll probably pick up a cheap laptop from work when they get upgraded.

You don't have to have internet from the laptop you use for VAG-COM. You copy the serial number from the info screen and save to a disk or paper. Then send an email from any computer with that number in it.

You cannot change anything (anti-hijack, etc) without registering the product.
