speed cameras possibly ???

Featured Replies

i was going up the m4 last night towards bridgend on one of the bridges were 3 tripod mounted devices covering a lane each all facing the oncoming traffic on one side of the road

there was no coppers or vans (that i could see anyway)

just wondered if anyone knows what these are

Wonder if these are the new tax disc camera's (I forget what they're called)?

Chris

Did they look like this:

If so, then they were probably ANPR cameras (reading number plates to check for valid tax & insurance) and not speed cameras.

cheers for that i been looking for photos all day

In Denmark we have these cameras mounted with 50 miles between. They can spot the numberplates and the calculate the awarage speed for the distance. And then they can say if the traffic is heavey or ligth.

The numberplate will be erased from the database when you pass the second camera or after a while if you don't pass the second camera.

They ABSOLUTELY doesn't use the numberplateinfo for anything else.

They have been using things that are the same as that to catch speeding drivers on the M4 around Swindon for over two years.......the police are usually parked just off of the roundabout
