Print Matters Promenade Stages Rally - 30th September

Rallying makes a much-awaited return to Wirral on the 30th September with the 2006 Printmatters Promenade Stages Rally.

Organised by Wallasey Motor Club with support from Wirral Council, the rally is a real crowd-puller and immensely popular with top drivers from all over the UK and even further afield.

The rally was moved from it's traditional July spot for 2006 in order to avoid a clash with the British Open Golf Championship at Hoylake.

Said rally press officer Marco Toni:"The change could potentially mean very different weather conditions-and that could provide an added challenge for the rally teams."

"As Wirral's premier motorsports event, the rally's immense popularity is down to the extremely unique venue for any motorsport event that wirral is able to offer. It is unique in the sense that the rally takes place on a closed public road, namely King's Parade, New Brighton Promenade."

The 2006 rally will once again be using the full New Brighton circuit, which is closed for the day, thanks to the much-valued assistance of Wirral Council.

Preparations for this year's rally is well underway with a capacity 90 car entry featuring a number of Subaru Impreza WRC, Metro 6R4s, Hyundai Accent WRC and many others.
