Didn't realise that one was a V6 (you're talking about the fully battenburg'ed estate, right?)! They also have quite a few very nice Beemers on the fleet but I hear they don't let the "foreigners" anywhere near them :P:rofl:

I couldnt give a toss who is a Policeman. Why should I? They have a job to do and are as welcome here as anyone. Have you had your 'collar felt' or something?

Who said anything about them not being welcome:confused: and no I've never had my collar felt.

The two points I was interested in where the demographics of the two sides of the speeding coppers threads, and secondly, in a meet situation do you want to place a police officer (who from gist of the threads are never off duty:) ) in the situation of deciding wether to uphold the law or 'feel the collar' of a fellow briskodian for driving 'briskly'

The ones I've met "off-duty" have a primary focus on safety and enjoyable driving and don't care about use of speed as such as long as it is appropriate to the conditions ;) If you're driving in a manner dangerous to others (in their opinion!), I'd hope that they'd do something about it ... as would any passing on duty officer....

Here here.

On the subject of foglights and other silliness:

Please start pulling people for not using the left lane on the motorway. I swear everyone is allergic to it.

Alternatively dont penalise those that 'undertake' safely in lane 1 when lane 2 is clear and lane 3 (commonly known as the fast lane) is full of 60mph numpties!

Or am I bad for doing this and am asking to be pulled?

Good point.

and......................Mobile phone usage ...and......seat belts.....and.......????

..... and having your kids unbelted in the back and you not wearing a seat belt either. Kids learn by example

Someone posted the other day they had seen a traffic car with a dot matrix display in the back window with the message "Get off the phone!" on it. If it can do that, surely there must be a whole host of other sudh messages:

Stay left if you're not overtaking!

Stop tailgating!

Put your seatbelt on!

Put your book/paper/atlas/other thing you're reading away!

Put your lights on!

Turn your fogs off!

Wake up!

Go and have a kip - you're a danger!

(and for bikers) dip that headlight!

any more ...?

They should use the motorway matrix signs to show a "keep left if not overtaking" message when possible.

Yeah, "wanna race ?" ;)

Yeah, "wanna race ?" ;)

that could scroll to then say ....

"i'll put a fresh tape in the video & if you win i'll let you keep it!!"

I came home from Stafford last night, M6 northbound, I was sitting doing about 68MPH in the inside lane, no really, I am that sad. :P

Nowt in front of me for about 1/2 a mile, (go figure, a quiet journey home!), anyhow, in the middle lane was about 5 cars in the same distance, the outside lane, they were prcticing vehecular sodomy and you couldn't fit a pedal bike between 'em, never mind the 2 second rule! Idiots, no wonder there are so many crashes.

Two feet away fromthe car in front at 50 is a darn sight more dangerous than 500 yards away from the car in front at 80. Tailgating should be punished much more harshly, but ABS, traction control, 'active safety features' mean some folks think the car can do ALL the work.

Anyhoo, I wibble.

On the subject of our boys in blue though, we write software for the Police and Fire Service, you have no idea how unnerving it is to wander into an office building where everyone but you seems to be in uniform hehe.

"Pah you wanna go into Traffic! Hants have some very nice traffic cars ... oh and some Skoda's too"

havent you heard? traffic coppers have no soul

I know of one Thames Valley traffic policman who uses this forum ;)

is it true that they are trained in witchcraft and have no reflection?
