Today I got the jigsaw out ...

... and sawed a big hole in the roof of my MG :D

A fellow MGOC BBS poster had a wreck he used as a donor car for a rebuild using a new heritage shell. The donor included a Webasto sunroof, so last weekend off I went to the wilds of Herefordshire to remove it. Today it was time to drink some very strong coffee and get the jigsaw out and fit it to mine. This is one of those jobs you measure 3 times and cut once :D but it all turned out OK. Wifey helped me check my measurements so it would have been her fault if it didn't! It took about 5 hours altogether - probably would have been quicker with new parts and a cutting template, but not bad, considering.

Some pics:

1. marked out and drilled

2. removing the headlining

3. one side cut

4. installed - outside

5. installed - inside

It needs a good clean now, but basically it's in, and I can hopefully still enjoy a little sunshine for the rest of September at least.

I was expecting a post about how you spent the day doing a thousand piecer ;)

Looks like an excellent job though :D

Chris

Does this count as a sort of mongreling? ;)

Looks nice though.

I bet that took some nerve.

I was pretty hesitant before cutting a hole in the dash of my AX for the motion sensors for the alarm and that was just a couple of small holes in plastic , not attacking the roof :D

looks like you've done a pretty good job , the roof looks in good condition also

Ahh I see Nick.

Good job.

I wouldn't have the guts to do that  :D
