2.0 FSI vs 2.0 TDI?

Featured Replies

Assume that the purchase price and fuel costs and other financial factors don't come into it.

The 2.0 FSI rarely seems to get a mention here, whereas the 2.0 TDI (the 140) seems pretty popular. On paper they seem pretty similar; the FSI has 10bhp more but the TDI has all that torque. Presumably the TDI also has more of a power spike?

Anyone tried both?

Not yet, but will be soon....

Having driven both engines(although in Audi's) I would have the 140PD any day. More torque and it feels quicker plus the TDi can be tuned very easily.

I'm not aware of anyone able to tune the 2.0FSi

I tested them both before buying the TDI, it just seemed calmer but when I wanted to it flew, I have done 8,000 miles now and it is getting much quieter and smoother, I have also done that mileage in just over 3 months so economy is important, I made the right choice I think regardless of the economy.
