octavia but which one

Featured Replies

hi would some of you octavia owners give me some feed back

on the diesel engines and the mpg figures your getting especialy with the dsg auto gearbox , i know the octavias a great car and am looking to buy one soon but dont know wether to go for the 1.9 tdi manual or the dsg gearbox in the same engine , or the 2.0 heard bad things about this engine

on previous threads , is this true . how good is the dsg gearbox worth the extra money. i mainly drive 65 miles a day

between 40 and 70 mph and get about 55 to 60 mpg with my

peugot 406 hdi thanks for your help , great website you guys have here never seen so much helpfull advice :) :) :)

What have you heard about the 2.0 thats bad?

It's a cracking engine. I average 52mpg on a tankfull in mine. Today's trip to Newmarket and back was 270 miles at 56mph

DSG box is superb - get one, end of story

next question - I have the 1.9tdi and find it quick and smooth eneough for my needs. Its a comfortable and quiet car that can keep up with the trafic no problem and overtake safely in normal circumastances (this is helped by teh response of the DSG). fuel consumption has averaged 54 mpg over the last 19,000 miles - mostly country A & B roads with very little motorway work.

If you want a sporty diesel that is very quick and drives like a petrol buy the 2.0 tdi!

I have a 2.0TDI DSG - covered 800 miles.

Average 42mpg

Recently bought an Estate 1.9tdi 105 ps Classic. Getting 54 MPG driving sensibly.

2.0 diesel DSG.

24000 miles

average 43.62 driven like the web site says - briskly

maxidot says around 47

I wouldn't get the 1.9 unless you get DSG as otherwise it only has 5 gears where as the 2.0TDI comes in with 6 in the manual and DSG versions.

2.0 seems a hoot to me :)

5 gears suits the lazy 1.9 engine. You certainly do not need 6. The Fabia Vrs, however is a different story. I speak from experience - we have both cars!

Getting a 2.0 TDI DSG - can't wait. Heard so many good things about this car

I wouldn't get the 1.9 unless you get DSG as otherwise it only has 5 gears where as the 2.0TDI comes in with 6 in the manual and DSG versions.

I recently drove a 4x4 which has the 6 speed box as standard and it coped well, but it is geared down a bit from the standard box.

Only problem was remebering I had a clutch:eek:

I'm averaging 43 mpg. Quite a lot of short journeys but I do boot it when warmed up.

There is nothing at all bad about the 2.0 engine. It's fantastic and if you go manual you will love the smooth 6 speed box.

Hi, I have the 1.9 TDi PD and it averages 53 MPG but will happily do 60 MPG on run at motorway speeds 5 up. THe best car I have ever owned plus road tax is

I have the 2.0 Tdi with DSG, I love it and it gets me 40mpg, I drive mostly on dual carriageways at 85 mph, I do have a heavy foot though.
