Central locking problem

Featured Replies

why does it happen on a saturday afternoon when no service departments are open??

my central locking keeps opening by itself..I lock the doors then they pop open again and the mechanism keeps going on and off

upshot is I cant lock my bloody car

this happens even when the car is running...the central locking mechanism goes on and off

I suspect it will be a warranty repair next week :(

We had an Octavia at our dealer ship that did the oppersite thing it locked all the time, even when driving, to deadlock position so we couldn't get out. Turned out to be the convinence system had gone tits up. It needs replacement. Nothing you can do to stop it. Sorry to give you bad news but it is covered by the warranty :doctor:

May be worth "pulling the plug on it" - ie disconnect the car battery, leave it for a couple of minutes and reconnect (make sure you know your radio code if it's not a self learning one).

At least, with the battery diconnected you can manually lock the car so it is safe until you can get it looked at.

Check your manual, make sure theres nothing else vital on the same supply, and whip the fuse out ;)

If you have an aftermarket stereo and have not used the wiring adaptor the K wire will still be connected and this can wreek havoc with the cars computerised electronics.

needs new c/locking ecu.

hmm wierdly enough..I disonnected the battery overnight.. and it seems to have rectified the problem

I may still take it in to have it looked at though.

very bizarre

Good to hear it seems to have fixed itself - all these electrical gizmos are great until they go pear shaped.....You didn't leave a door open and a gremlin climbed in ?
