Student discount on laptops?

Featured Replies

Anyone know of anywhere that offers a student discount on a laptop? A friend is after a lappy and wants a cheap deal. Or if anyone knows of anywhere having a sale on lappys that are quite good, doesn't need to be A1 spec, just decent enough to run Office, connect to a printer and have a network connector.

Your student friend should have knowledge of a website telling them of all the retail outlets that offer student discount.

She's blonde, so maybe, maybe not. I'll quiz her or just root through all her stuff til I find it, like normal. :D

Any idea what her budget is?

About £1,000 tops, she's a student and has to pay for alcohol.

1k will buy quite a powerful laptop... a perfectly decent one can be had from DELL for half that

I would reccomend the Insperon 640m or the 6400 (which is a bit bigger+more powerful)

Dell starting with the 1000 series for a very basic laptop.

Did you say 'she', 'student' and 'blonde' in the same sentance.

Next you will be saying she is a student nurse and single :P

1K would buy you a mac laptop with change

apple do edu discounts.

i've had brand new dell inspiron 1300s with dvd-rw for under 300 notes though. a grand is almost certainly overkill.

macbooks are *great* though.

Do you guys get your Dell laptops thru the dell website?

If so, is there a discount/offers section?

If you go through the "home" section, the adverts dotted around will show you what offers they have on at the moment, like double memory etc.

Either choose one of those offers, or customise it.. take notice of the service/support section tho.. this is where dell make thier money, by automatically selecting the

She decided on a Sony Vaio in the end. I have to say the screen quality is amazing next to all the other laptops, bit like the Sony Trinitons really. Spec is good too, model number is FS515B if anyone cares. Cost £629.99 from Dixons as PC World was £70 more expensive. I know it cost that as its currently on my credit card (in case it gets lost etc etc etc). It looks good, I just hope she doesn't trash it.

I suggested a Dell, but she wanted the Sony once she saw it.
