Fitting Fabia Dashboard Drawer

Featured Replies

I have now reached the stage where I want to fit the dashboard storage drawer to my Vrs.

I have used the search facility to find the part number of the drawer itself but I couldn't find any instructions about how to fit it. Is it quite an easy job?

I know there are some members who have fitted them.

How exactly do you fit it and do I need to order anything more than the drawer and rubber mat?

Thank you.

The drawer was standard fit my Elegance and looked to be a doddle to fit, although I think you may need to pull the radio out to remove the original cubby hole?

Thank you for that, Scooby Chris.

I don't have anything to remove the radio.

Do you know if the dealer sells the radio removal tools?

The long thin kenwood ones from Halfrauds work perfectly.

Thanks for that, Neily03.

Off to Halfrauds on Weds when the drawer comes into stealers!

Just hope they are in stock!!!

Pretty much as already said really.

Remove the radio using the appropriate tools, no need to disconnect it just hold it up out of the way with one hand and with the other reach behind the standard cubby hole and give it a good tug towards you. Then it's simply as case of sliding the drawer in and push the radio back in. 5 Minutes max.

Thanks VRStu.

Have now obtained the keys from Halfrauds - decided to go tonight instead of Weds.

Due to the help of Briskodians I am more confident doing this little job.

Thank you all.

It will look like this then:

It looks a different colour but it isnt. Trick of light

Zebra - Did you remember to order the mat that goes inside it too?

I did remember the rubber mat and the parts guy thought it came with the drawer.

However, it didn't so they are going to post it out to me.

Dash looks a lot neater with the drawer in. It is a pity Skoda didn't fit it as standard to all the models of Fabia for such a relatively small cost.

Fitting it was also a good opportunity for tightening the torx bolts behind the radio and on the dash itself - mine were not as tight as you would think!

Great to hear you got it in ok then - I always find it satisfying when something works out ok.

Thanks for that.

It did go all right. The radio came out, no problem, using the tools from Halfrauds. With radio in one hand I then tightened up the bolts usning the other!

Was a bit dubious about giving the storage tray a tug but luckily it wasn't an issue. Slide the drawer in the gap and once in put the radio back in.

Good thing also about doing this is that my heated rear screen switch that was sticking in cold weather no longer sticks!! :)
