Converting JPEG to ESP or AI files

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to convert a JPEG image to an ESP or AI file?

I've been trying to do this for the past 45 mins but I've not had any luck yet...

what OS you running linux you could print the thing to ps then use ps2eps

ESP or EPS format? Not sure if thats a typo or not you've got there.

Photoshop will let you save a jpeg as an EPS file (Photoshop EPS).

you could open the jpg in Illustrator and save as an ai but whats it for?

oops yeah that was a typo. it shoul've been EPS.:o

I'm trying to convert the company logo from a JPG to EPS as we are having signs drawn up but we need it to be an EPS or AI file so it can be easily edited.

I'm running Windows XP and the only linux machine we've got on site is the server. (not got photoshop either)

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

if you can mail me the jpeg, I'll convert it for you this morning and return it, if that would help you out.

Photoshop and Illustrator for something like this.

GIMP for windows, it's an open source Photoshop clone, and top wack one at that IMHO then.

The file type won't make it any easier to edit. by EPS/AI file they want a vector based copy of the logo. Not a Bitmap Raster. Unless you originally made it in a vector program like Illustrator/Corel Draw etc. it will be just as much use to them as a JPEG copy.

I get it all the time at work. The best they/you can do is 'trace' it in Illustrator or remake it in a vector program. It all depends on how complicated the logo is.
