Thinking of swaping my 04 vRS for a new one

Featured Replies

What the differance?

6 speed box.....................no DSG :(

weights 50 Kgs more

More Power

Does it grip better, my vRS is not bad but no Fast Ford when it comes to connering speeds...is the new one better?

Mike

I like but you should drive one to see. Don't try to compare remapped MK I performance to it though, you'll be disapointed.

The MkI is a cracking car but the MkII takes it to a whole new level IMHO. :)

I think you can re-map to 250 ish BHP so not worried, my vRS don't grip the road that well...........bumps throw it about.

Grip, turn-in, ride (on 18s), gearchange and ratios, all better.

Also better is traction control, lack of lag, power delivery, general "environment" (space, materials, cubbys).

Take a test drive. If you can afford one, I reckon you'll be signing on the dotted line...

If there is nothing wrong with your old RS, keep it. New model does not justify spending the additional £10k. I only changed because I had to.

With sensible head on, when do they ever...? :)

You justify your want for an unnecessary car (it's got plenty space, there's performance headroom for safety, it looks nice, I'm bored) then move on from there... :D

OK, more sensible suggestion then. Keep your old RS, spend the additional £10k on a remap for the RS (to make it quicker than a new RS), getting a motorcycle licence and a GSXR1000. That's sensible.

sounds like plan to me only ii would keep my TDI and get something around 750CC after doing test and working my way up.

I would probably then die on the bike mind :S

Try avoiding the dieing bit, I found my attempts at that bit very painful.

Well I took the new vrs octy out for an extended run, really liked it but......... downside are that they are expensive for the trim levels, seats inside remind me of chavvy trainers and are not very supportive, the steering is absolutely awful, it is more vague than a conservative party political broadcast....decided to wait until some serious tuning bits are available rather than the uncertain remaps, and untested bits that are out at the the moment ( think shifty is the official briskoda testbed for everything mk2 at the moment) I have got another mk1 54 plate with only 10K on the clock.......my last mk 1 with a remap, coilovers, arbs was in my opinion a far better car to drive!

I hev no doubt that when all the bits are available the mk 2 will wipe the floor with the mk1!

PS also thought that the quality and fit of the door cards on the car I test Drove was pretty poor for a

( think shifty is the official briskoda testbed for everything mk2 at the moment)

And there was me thinking Dave's was standard :D
