I've got the shakes Help

Featured Replies

I have a 05 tdi estate that has completed over 50k driver only motorway miles in 14 months great car BUT just started shuddering when pulling away especialy in reverse also sounds and feels like a wheel bearing on the way out when doing around 70-80 in 6th , the cars going in on friday for investigation. I know enough about cars that wheel bearings dont normaly burn up in that time. but dont know anything about dual mass flywheels.

anyone ot there had this before I am getting nervous about the forthcoming 60k and end of my warrenty

Hmm sounds like a warped clutch plate to me.

Welcome to Briskoda, That is alot of miles to do in a year. Hope your problem is sorted.

Isnt the warranty mileage unlimited for the first 2 years? If so you have 10 months left.

Yes. warranty is unlimited mileage for first 2 years.

could also be oil contamination on the cluth friction plate. crankshaft oil seal may of failed.

thanks to everyone for the responses, this is my first time on the site and its a shame I only discoverd it after researching the net with my problem.

when I put the car to the dealer this morning they told me the car was outside the recall perameters but hey presto the dealer returned the car today saying that I need a new DM/flywheel and clutch. what is up with VAG with this problem why has it taken so long to peg down and its right across the group.

I havent looked at he warrenty stuff just asumed the 60k or 2years whatever came first.

The problem is the manufactuer of the DM flywheel. Two differents sorts are fitted depending on who was supplying the part at the time. One is good, the other isnt.

I now have agood one.

My 2006 Octy 1.9 TDi just had the same problem come to a head after 3,000 miles.

A bit juddery on pulling away from new, especially uphill or under load, but has been getting progressively worse.

Dealer to the point straight away, needs a new Dual Mass Flywheel which will be now be done without quibble under the warranty.:finger:

Disappointing that it needs doing, but I cannot fault the dealer's attitude and honesty. I was dreading a Ford or Peugot style "they all do that guv".:)

My 1.9 is in for exactly the same thing, a new clutch/flywheel is being fitted. I'm hoping they sort the door seals at the same time.

Anyone with 1.9 TDI, having clutch replaced along with the DMF. Please can you post whether you had to pay for the clutch or not. I had to pay for mine :( .

My garage just replaced the clutch. Now the engine is making a right racket when it's fully warmed up, so I rang the garage, they've said ring the AA. I can't wait for getting home time tonight.

The original recall for the DMF failures was for cars built across the VAG group during a certain period in 2004 ie 54 Reg cars. Thats what my letter said anyway.
