yay, new bling fitted

Featured Replies

this evening i got all enthusiastic and fitted my bonnet lifters, they took some 'adjusting' though.

in the end i had to adjust them with a drill, a vice and a file but they work a treat now :D

i'll go get some pics in a minute.

nice one mate, any go faster bits yet? :)

not yet, so far only a week late

Yummy yummy bling!

But, out of intrest and stupidity... what do bonnet lifters do, like, do they somehow automatically lift the bonnet? If they do then how much are they?:D

(PS, I know the answer is in the title "bonnet lifters"!)

Replaces the bonnet stay. Bonnet opens as usual but stays up on its own.

gas struts like your boot.... Vdubs come with them as standard, skoda don't fit them.. hence being cheaper on the forcourt.. its the little things:

Oh details please... perfect for our own octy then...

If these are the ebay ones, I fitted some last weekend and without modyfying them they fitted like a rubber glove on a chickens foot :thumbdwn:

However they look nice (after you have got the grinder out)

and seem to be working fine...................for now:rolleyes:

But well done mate

yeah as standard there wasn't enough travel in the ball joints so i had to adjust them to fit nicely :)

i used a combination of the drill and a file ina vice as a cheap lathe to turn down the shaft of the mounting thingy and also filed the outer edge of the socket joint on the actual gas strut.

the struts only had about 120degrees of play in them as standard where they need about 140, but they are all fitted now :)

i'll get pictures when i get dressed :D
