Hello New VRS TDI and new to Skoda

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Got my new VRS TDI on Friday, Race Blue, 18 inch alloys, rear sensors, cruise and maxidot.

I have only driven around 100 miles but already liking the torque and power.

I will be doing a long run this week so will see how it goes and looking forward to 45+ mpg when the engine beds in.

Any advice on how to get the best out of the car will be appreciated inc any essential mods such as engine chip/air filters etc :)

Hi, Welcome...

As for mods - this is up to debate. The 170bhp engine is remapped already AFAIK so looks like exhaust is the way to go...?

For now - enjoy the car... Will hopefully be my next purchase!

I don't think the extra power of the 170 over the 140 is all down to mapping, that said I don't know of anyone marketing a 170 map yet - they will soon no doubt.

I don't think an exhaust makes a huge differance with a TDi but removal of the DPF if feasible might.

The Neuspeed Short Shifter is a nice mod, serach and you should find my review.

I don't know what airfilter the 170 uses but I would imagine there is one available.

Good fuel and steady driving will for sure give you the best economy from it if that's what you want from it.

Oh and welcome to Briskoda.

Removing the DPF would be tricky as its very intergrated into the engine management. The 170 uses different injectors for sure over the 140, not sure what else.
