Hot head unit...

Featured Replies

I had my heater on full, with a fan speed of 1, directed just to the foor wells (climatonic), but I noticed the underside of my headunit got very hot, and that hot air also seemed to some degree was also coming out of the othervenst (if I opened them up).

As a result my head unit was quite slow to initally read any mp3 disks I put in.

Normally I only blow cold air around - so this was new to me (trying to dry my trainers out after walking the dogs in the rain last night).

Could this be sticky flaps in the heater unit thing? Is this meant to be user servicable? I have not looked my haynes manual yet - so just getting a group feeling at the mo.

Cheers,

Matt

i'd expect small amounts of air to flow from all the vents even when the controls are set to direct it elsewhere... i'm pretty sure this is to reduce misting on the windscreen for example.

i'd also expect your head unit to get hot even with the blowers turned off completely. if you think that the unit is in a pretty confined space with little to no cooling available then it makes perfect sense.
