I have read many times here and in some other VAG forums that sometimes one of the doorlock dont want to open or stop working.

Usually Symptoms: Door(s) fail to respond normally to lock/unlock signals. In several cases, sending a lock signal via remote locks all but one door.

Usually the problem is a cracked solder joint inside the door lock servo/solenoid unit.

Nice find, Isaac. Now all we need is for one of our members who has replaced a similar part, and kept the old one, to have a look and see if this fault is present.

I got two damage door locks from friends that have replace this part on his Skodas.

Eaven that they put new ones, I decide to open them just for fun to see what I find.

My look was that I got 2 parts so I can compare them:D

One of the door locks have a plastic lever broke that alow to this part to move from his working positio making the door lock to jam. This Lever work in conjuntion with some parts to make the deadlock work.

So one of the Door Locks have a plastic lever broke inside. The other one have a mechanical damage that make that when you pull the door handle from the inside make the door handle to remain in the open position......... Its does not get back to his close position, you have to push it. I check the door lock part for this problem and found the metal lever that stick on the open position but for more than I try I can not find out what is the problem..............

I'll have a look at mine later. I think it was a sensor or microswith that led it to believe the door was still open. So, probably just the solder. Why you not tell me all this 2 weeks ago before I spent £85 on a new lock? :grumpy:

Check these pictures so you can test your door light microswitch without disasemble your door lock.You will only need a volmeter:D Then you can decide if you need to open for checking solder points or just open it for fun

Hello Guys, sorry for my late reply. I was traveling out of the country:O

Does solder joins indicated with the arrow are the ones that belong to the microswith that indicate if the door is open or close. I will say that your problem is the microswitch itself that is damage and is not making good contac.

If you check the pictures above, the arrow show you a RED and BLUE wires that are soldered to the PC board and on the other end of these wires is a microswitch. If the microswith is damage then you know were is your problemo.

The only way you can test this is will a volmeter.

Here is a pic were is located the microswitch that controls the door open indicator on the dash.

Guys - my 2004 Octavia Estate driver's door doesn't tell the car that it's open !

So, if I unlock the car and open the driver's door, the car auto-locks soon after.

Also - the courtesy light extinguishes even with the door ajar.

Any ideas guys?

If it only do it with the drivers door it mean that the micro switch is damage. Check my pics. Its possible to change the microswitch but you need to remove the completely door lock unit to do it.

Bengie has had this problem for some time and recently purchased a new lock assembly for the thick end of £100.

However, this has not fixed his problem

Bengie, Wanye Kerr and Myself all have this issue on cars with 80k+ (ish) miles.

Done just 20k - was my dads car and i reckon its been like this from new!!!!!

Time to fish out the multimeter........

Not respond?/ I had a situation once where my car was switched on, keys in ignitions, and I shut the door from outside to smoke a cigarette...when I was done I couldn't get back in, it locked on its own. And it did a few times more til I got it sorted!

It gets worse............neither driver or front passenger door open are acknowledged by the interior lights or locking !!

The fecking rear doors are though !!!

Work THAT one out !!!!!

Does are the only pics I have. Taking apart does doors is a big pain in the back. You need to remove a lot of things to get were is the door lock motor.

I still have a problem with one door that the door lock motor does not work and I going to take the car to the dealer.........I will pay for that job!
