I get 44mpg on a mixed run with my VRS 53 plate with a revo remap, with a slightly heavy boot!

I put mine to the test today - 15 miles on the A1, 6th gear between 70 and 80 all the way and I returned 46.5mpg...

Further to my post above - the turbo pipe popped off whilst driving today. A very nice man in a yellow van fixed it on the roadside (just happened to be an ex-Skoda tech so bit of a result there).

Could a potentially loose pipe be the cause of poor fuel economy, or would it have popped off a long time ago if it was loose due to boost pressure?

was it one of the pipes held on with the metal spring clips ?

they wear where the clip goes and if you are running a bit more boost pressure , this could be reason it popped off

as for poor fuel consumption , if it was losing boost i suppose you could be pressing the loud pedal harder to make it go , but then i would think you would hear the boost pressure being lost through the joint , or in a worst case no boost at all

Yes, the patrolman advised on getting the spring clip replaced.

I'll keep an eye on mpg over the next few days to see if there's any change with the refitted pipe.

Wow what a difference pumping up my tyres to the correct pressure has made! Checked them all the other day (first time since I got the car....I know I know!) Well the fronts were running at 17.5 . Pumped them up to 36psi... Here's my fuel consumption figures for the last 2 months or so.....

39.05, 46.27, 46.55, 43.55, 44.33, 46.25, 45.39, 44.17, 43.57, 50.32 (guess when I pumped up the tyres)

i'd be surprised if there wasn't some damage/uneven wear to the tyres running them at half the pressure they should be

did you get a pressure gauge/foot pump for christmas ?

No I had a plug in compressor all along but the tyres didn't look to be deflated at all so I jus presumed they were okay.....tyres previous owner had are rubbish anyway (Sunny SN3800s...never heard of them) so will be upgrading to some nice F1 DSG3s soon enough.

I get 54.0 mpg from my vRS. So far, anyway. In contrast to the rest of you, my trip computer figures match my pump calculated ones.

Deleted, wrong forum

I've had my diesel Vrs for 3 weeks now and it's done 2800 miles.

I've run it below 3000 rpm and not taken it over 70.

Most of the miles have been motorway and the cruise has been on keeping it steady.

The first 1000 miles gave me 34 mpg and it's now giving 41 mpg.

My Golf GT TDi used to give me 55-60 and I was expecting it to be close to that.

Anyone got any ideas?? ??

its still not really run in yet , give it a few thousand more miles , and give it some welly to clear out the crude , as this can work wonders also

My 130 Ibiza struggles to get past 55mpg Basically I can't break the speed limit and must accelerate very gently. I still think that good consumption but its not quite as good as I had expected from hearing what some people with Golfs and Passats 'say' that they get.

My car likes warm dry weather

If its cold or wet it's noticaby a few mpg down

Gloucester to Birmingham Airport last Wednesday morning - 72.0mpg on the display driving into the car park - but it was a gentle drive...
