Hello from very sad Fabia VRS Owner

Featured Replies

Hi to all,

I am hoping you can all cheer me up and restore my faith in the Fabia VRS. I currently own what was a wonderful silver Fabia VRS bought as an ex demonstrator in Dec 2003.

I loved it until April this year I skidded on some black ice and ended up upside down in a ditch. My wonderful car saved my life however looked like it was going to be written off. My insurance company decided to rebuild it. (Badly) complaint still in progress. I took it to Skoda to fix who are still having problems. I am now left with a car that is leaking every-where all the doors and the boot. There is mould and it smells. Skoda I know will eventually fix it all but I have found myself looking at alternative makes of car. I am not sure I want mine after all that has happened. I have read all the reviews on the Fabia and somewhere deep down in my heart I know its the right car for me but perhaps I just need a little persuading.

I no longer ejoy getting in my car for fear something will drop off and having to mop up all the water is no fun. Please help!!!!! I am a wee girl racer in her 30's who wants that buzz behind the wheel again.

Very surprised to hear of a rolled fabia being repaired at all to be honest. And it doesn't surprise me that there are plenty of issues with it having been effectively rebuilt again.

Best hurry with any repairs though, as the warranty from Skoda runs out quite soon.

Just think, the Fabia saved you life where a lesser car could have crumpled easily and you may not be around to tell the tale.

You should have insisted the car be written off but i suppose it's easy to say that now, whereas having it repaired you wouldn't expect to have all those leaks. :(

Glad you are ok

Sell it and buy another Fabia if you are uncomfortable with it.Plenty of low mileage ones out there.

What other cars have yoiu looked at? There are some very good competitors out there now (punto diesel looks very nice)

Only way of fixing a "Carlson on the Roof" (ok more of a SAAB reference but...) situation properly is a new shell IME.

Jwhere a lesser car

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

My advice would be to either reject the car (as it's not been repaired to your satisfaction) or maybe try asking the insurance company to write it off.

Chris

Oh look - another upside down fabia ;)

I agree with What others have said here. the car is clearly not right and thats not acceptable. Reject it.

Have you spoken to the Citizens Advice Bureau ?

hi. and welcome missdisnee. sorry 2 hear bout ur woes. but if cars as bad as u say tell them where 2 go. :(

Hi

Thank you so much for the replies and advice. i sent a long long letter of complaint to my insurance company and should have a respnse early November they say.

I am hoping they will buy it off me if not i am faced with numerous trips to Skoda to try and fix it. It seems once they fix one thing something else goes wrong. Everyone has said it should have been written off I have photos but not sure how to post them on here. I bought the car on finance and was looking forward to this Dec owning my car outright and had plans to chip it and put leather seats in ect.

I love the Fabia VRS and just hope this all gets resolved not really sure what i should expect from the insurance company so may well speak to CAB as advised.

Little off thread but did it have ESP fitted?

I appreciate it was black ice but I was just wondering

............ I bought the car on finance..............

I think you should call the finance company because, with some finance deals, they may still own all/part of the vehicle.

Reject the car, if it leaks it obviously hasn't been repaired correctly.

I for one wouldn't want to be driving around in a car that had been rolled.

I guess the bulk of the shell was ok, after all the roof is only another panel thats welded onto an outer frame.

Missdisnee has emailed a pic of the crashed fabia. The pic is attached to this post, and looking at the full size image it does seem odd that it was repaired.

Hi

Thank you so much for attaching the piccy for me I am not too good with all this computer stuff.

:)

 Hope you are not still shook up by it.I should follow the suggestions given

I can still see a Montage coming up though

I can't be certain, because I can't see the Furby's roof, but when I rolled my old ZX (several years ago) I bent the passenger door frame, not just the roof panel itself (and also bent the chassis rails, doors, A posts, front inner and outer wings...and destroyed the hatchback). I'm fine now, bar being a touch cautious through one particular series of bends.

Thanks lozgti

I seem to be ok driving if not a hell of a lot slower but not sure how I am going to react when the roads start to get a bit slippy.

The messages are all supportive and give me a bit more courageto take on the insurance company.

Well, at least you know that the shock/loss of confidence is recoverable from, cos I did.

And, as others, your car's not been repaired properly, so raise a complaint with your insurance, but remember that that'll mean keeping the car until the complaint's resolved if I understand correctly.

Just one other little thing, sort of a traditional greeting to female newbies really.

Are you cute?

That Fabia looks somewhat less damaged that others we have seen here.

Cheeky monkey!!!!

I await a reply from my 1st complaint letter to the insurance company so i shall see what they have to say. My feelings about all this are now changing from sad to down right angry.

I can fully understand now how anyone feels having had any kind of car accident. i had never been in one before and that feeling of being out of control and thinking will i be alive when this stops and when it does stop the panic of being trapped. It was horrible. Having said that It hasn't killed me and I still love to drive. It has slowed me down though which is a good thing I suppose.

And as for cute well what can I say depends on what cute means. (Furry hamster maybe)

:D

You got the "time slowing down as you realise that you are going to have an accident soon, regardless of anything you do" thing too then? In my case I had time to count the number of times I steered into a rear-wheel skid, realise that I'd caught it but the car was now at right-angles to the road, then see the bank and tree coming and get my feet off the pedals and knees braced against the door and centre console, then look in my rear-view mirror half-way through the crash and realise that I must be upside down cos the sky was at the bottom of the mirror. What I still don't remember is the airbag going off! although, since the steering wheel boss vanished, it must have done.

I then got out of the car and got on my mobie, organising a recovery wagon and ambulance.

And, as I say, the "are you cute?" thing is traditional. ;)

Well I suppose I am cute but then I am bound to say that. I am female, drive a Fabia VRS although not a very well one. I have all my own teeth and want a leather interior for my car. Does this help with your question?

You've clearly got an SoH, which is a good start.
