Saw it, bought it

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Just had a first test drive in a new Octavia - well, a year old, 1.9tdi ambiente in dark blue with alloys, what a great car. Got an excellent trade-in offer and couldn't resist. So now I'm waiting for Monday to pick it up!

I've been offered the Supagard treatment, and an insurance add-on that will give me full purchase price if the car's written off in three years. My instinct is to ignore both offers - good idea or not? Still not sure.

I was really impressed by the solid feel of the car, great ride, secure handling, woohoo!!!!

So it's bye-bye to the other options - Avensis (wife couldn't stand the seats) Mondeo (too dull, and the radio controls dig into my knee) Mazda 6 ( as TopGear mag says, looks like a stereo from Argos ).

Definitely the classiest buy out there - now I just have to resist getting the chip remapped, at least for a while!

Hi, I got my Fabia VRS about 6 weeks ago and paid for the Lifeshine treatment and Gap insurance, did wonder about paying extra, but had a crash last week, (was not my fault) My cars going to cost a fortune to repair, luckily the other person's insurance will be paying for it, but I am glad I got the GAP insurance now, you never know, if the crash had been worse, the insurance company could have written it off

could be worth it for peace of mind :)

Welcome to Briskoda - I hope you enjoy the car.

Welcome to Briskoda.

I was offered Gap insurance when I took a Polo GTI out for a test drive (when they were working prices etc.)

Seems to be a good idea, get the price you paid for it if it gets written off. Just have to wrok out whether the depreasiation and the insurance trying to give you a bad deal is worth the extra expense

Thanks for the welcome - I've decided against the supagard and the gap insurance - probably spending the money on getting cruise control fitted instead! At least you see what you're getting for your money that way...

By the way, how do I know if my car's got the maxidot fitted? What does it look like?

oh, excellent, thanks. I seem to remember mine has a trip meter, outside temperature etc, but I don't remember it looking quite as cool as that. Maybe I've just got the standard version.

I feel really sorry for you guys waiting weeks for a car to be delivered - I only have to wait until Monday, and even so I'm counting the hours. Sad or what...

You probably have the normal one like me, looks a bit old fashioned but it does the job. I too bought from Stock to get a quick delivery, enjoy, they are nice cars.

On a nearly new car, GAP insurance can be a life saver.

However, you can buy it from anywhere you like.

Most people I know have either bought it on the Internet, or got an Internet price and the dealer has matched it.
