this is what I found out when I drove off this morning (see photos). Both front and rear pressenger side footwells were flooded.:eek:

I had the wet footwell problem, and my doors have been resealed by dealer about a month ago, it was prefectly fine until now, worse than wet carpet. Friend at work suggest it might caused by flash flood at where I park my fabia. I can't rule out this possibility, but the Rover parks near mine should suffer more, but I don't see flood in Rover. BTW that rover only go out once a week on weekend. Anyway, dealer is happy to check the seal for me tmr

I am not very sure. But last night the rain was heavy.

defo not flooding as those steps behind the cars would never let the water get any where near high enough to flood into the car, i'd say the seals are knackered.

I had the equivalent amount of water in the back of a mk2 astra after driving for just half an hour in a 'cloud burst', that was a door seal, amazed at the amount tho...

Just back from the dealer. They said the heater drain, which under windscreen near pollen filter was blocked. Water could over fill and goes into the car, and goes under carpet to rear footwell. They use their special hover to suck most of the remaining water out from the carpet for me, free. Well pleased.

OK now, how do I remove the smell of rain? I guess I will try some carpet cleaner/freshener, but which product is the best?

heater on full heat on to foot wells, air con on if you have it, recirculate off,and rear windows slightly open, leave it running for a day and it should dry out!

had about the same in the back of my polo after a very heavy bit of rain.. turned out to be the sunroof drain pipes emptying into the inside of the car instead of the outside...

Buy some standard Febreze from the supermarket and squirt that about. Best used in sunny weather so it drys quicker but not likely at the mo

I had a new passenger's side door seal fitted on Friday pm due to a problem with the old seal letting in the wet on my Ocatvia MkI. Problem was driving home from the garage in moderately heavy rain I could still see it trickling down the passenger side footwell walls. Was told by the garage that this is a common fault on the Octy MkI so I'm not confident Skoda can fix this. Is there any practical way to beef up the seal?

Hey.......I've just discovered wet footwells, both side rears!!

Think I'd better get them checked out!!!

I did my own clear out of the drains. Mine had wet footwell too!

Procedure is:

1. Remove wiper arms

2. Remove plastic scuttle panel.

3. Scoop out leaves and rotting vegetation.

4. Wiggle & squeeze rubber drain tubes to remove blockages.

5. Flush carefully with clean water. Perhaps a little detergent?

6. Refit all & dry Carpets.

If you try it DO NOT lever against the scuttle to remove the wiper arms. The scuttle rests on the windsreen. OOPS!!!

Can you tell me where in the engine bay the drain tubes exit?

I'd love to sort mine out and can't seem to find anything that looks like a likely culprit.

Try leaving a bowl of vinegar in the car overnight. It will absorb the odour and once the vinegar smell has gone all will be well.
