Porter Cable (PC) advice please.

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm looking at getting a PC for doing all the polishing etc on my car and require some advice.

Is it worth getting the American style ones that need to run off a transformer or can you use sanders that have variable speed and can double up as polishers?

Also looking for advise on where to get one seems to be a wide variety off prices on-line but not sure exactly what to go for yet.

Budget will be between

Yep, get yourself on DW, the best choice you'll ever make! Dead simple process getting the PC over from the States with Autopia, they really are superb - I did it myself earlier in the year and have no regrets whatsoever - their customer service is 1st rate. Do some digging on DW as well, as you'll find a discount code and info on how to go about getting it over here with the minimum of hassle ;)

Go for it  - there's simply no comparision with the PC and other sanding type tools, even the apparently orbital ones. If you're gonna do it, do it right :)

I have had a look but can't find the promotional codes for Autopia.

Is anyone on here a member of Detailing world who could P.M 182_blue as he only seems to give out the codes to other members rather than just posting on the site?

Also as an after thought can replacement pads be bought from this country or do they have to be imported as well?

Register on the site, then PM 182. There'll be no problem. He doesn't publicly post them for obvious reasons.

I buy replacement pads and all the car care products I use with the PC, through Rich at Polished Bliss - great service and he'll do everything he can to recommend the right products too, first-class advice.

Cheers for that.

Alway good to get info from those in the know!!

I may be selling my brand new and unused kit if you want one from the UK.

I've not worked out a price yet but I would if you are interested.

Couldn't resist a few pics to get you inspired. This was only my second time using the PC, on a friend's 9yr old Merc that is usually only put through a carwash occasionally, if that. But after several hours...

Results that speak for themselves, hopefully :D

Cheers VRStu.

Can you P.M me with details of make/model and price once you've got an idea what price you're looking for?

I'm looking forward to what Santa is going to bring me this year as I'm also hoping to get a Lavor Tiger pressure washer.

Still need to convince my wife that I really need more car cleaning stuff but I find the drip feeding technique works well over about 6 months.

I need to have a sort out and see what's in the box.
