"So what car would you REALLY like?"

Featured Replies

"The one I bought, you dolt".

Anyone else get asked similarly daft questions? Chap with a BMW M3 got awfully upset when I pointed out that I actually didn't aspire to own one. **** economy, ridiculous running costs, no carrying capacity and instantly makes the driver look like a ****.

Weird.

Lawks. Who'd have thought that **** and **** would be in the swear filter?

That must make it frightfully hard to write ***** and ******, let alone ******* and *****-*******.

Sounds like he fair got under yer sporran there Sporky

Actually, I'm only a quarter Scots, and as such my application for a sporran licence was refused. Apparently I'm allowed a caber and a herd of haggis, but no bagpipes, kilts or porridge with salt in.

Sporky take a test drive in one, you might change your opinion ;) But then again you might not! :D

Well, obviously it'd be infinitely faster, plusher inside and out-handle my Fabia Estate by a few orders of magnitude, but losing £20k in 3 years seems a bit daft (at least that was his saving by buying a 3-year old one) and I'd resent the daft running costs.

I'll concede that in many respects it's a "better" car, but would be no use at all to me. Particularly as work wouldn't let me use it - only 2 doors.

Do a search for the words "stupid grin" to find my review of a brief drive of one one lunchtime.

As for the car I really want - I always rather fancied one of these - fantastic looking thing.

TVR Cerbera 4.5 v8 420bhp 1997 on an R in Black with crimson leather interior and 18" compomotive 5 spokes in white

Like Griffiths better myself but good choice - at least you didn't go for that horrible metallic purple ...

A 4.2 litre series one Jaguar E-Type roadster in either gun metal or old english white

If you're gonna go Jaguar, and money's no object, why not an XK120/140/150? Same car, more pedigree :D

Griffiths are cool, but my abiding memory of the 1997 Glasgow motorshow is the TVR boys Actively getting folk up on the stand and into the cars.:D quite a treat when Peugeot wouldnt let us in a 406 1.8:thumbdwn:

They aint reliable, and they are are murder to work on but by god they're pretty:rolleyes:

Good call sir! a mk2 jag or a rover p5b coupe are also good plans

I'd really like this car. If i could have 'any' car. It'd be this one. It might not be the fastest etc. But for a pure combination of looks, colour and speed. I think i've got it right!

I'd like an E46 M3 touring

(I know, they dont make one!)

I'd like an... oh... hang on... I probably don't fit in it :(

Any car? 1973 Carrera RS or better yet, a RSR. In white/red of course.

Probably a dull choice in comparison, but I want an RS4 cabriolet...

I had a sneaking suspicion that people would read the title but not the opening post and just say what they'd really like. :D

Both our cars do what they are intended to do

But what i would really like is a fully spec'd up Overfinch Range Rover or even better a full spec'd up Defender

Overfinch : home

I'd like to find my dads old 'R' Type Bently & buy it back, many good memorys and you were always let out at junctions too.:D

Cost an absolute fortune to run though:eek:

.

If reliability was no object, then a TVR Chimera 4.0. If it was a real world car :D then it'd have to be a 911 Turbo I think, but a proper one, a 993. :)

Money no object then a Lambo Gayboy spider, now part of the skoda group so reliability should not be a problem day to day, just have to watch the stutter at 7,500rpm

Back to the OP, i don't think its a particularly daft question to ask and the responses you've had show that. If cost wasn't a problem, isn't there a car out there with the functionality/performance you'd rather have than the one you've got? There is for me anyway.
