"So what car would you REALLY like?"

Back to the OP, i don't think its a particularly daft question to ask and the responses you've had show that. If cost wasn't a problem, isn't there a car out there with the functionality/performance you'd rather have than the one you've got? There is for me anyway.

I dunno. I had a think about it a while back when it looked like I might be moved to the company car scheme, and the Volvo V50 D5 appealed, but to be honest the Fabia actually does exactly what I want a car to do. I don't really want anything bigger, but I wouldn't want to lose any carrying capacity. Bigger wheels would be nice - they do look a bit go-kart.

If there was a Fabia VRS estate with either the PD130 or one of those TSI engines in then I'd be very tempted, I spose. If money were no object and I didn't need the carrying capacity and blah blah blah then I'd probably think differently, but I do find it odd that people don't just buy the car they want.

but I do find it odd that people don't just buy the car they want.

But that's the point - money is the object! If it wasn't I certainly wouldn't be driving a diesel :rofl::rofl:

Chris

I would be very hard pushed to choose another car over mine. Standard cars wouldn't be an option if they had to stay standard, I'm sure I'd like to own a few supercars if I had the money to have a collection of cars but modified cars is where my heart is. If I was gonna start again and had a larger budget I'd choose something smaller and possibly older, would have to look descrete, a modern well specced interior, 4wd and big power.

I think I must look at the world a bit squiffy - I want a smallish diesel because I do quite a few miles and don't want to spend a fortune on fuel. If I had a shorter commute I might instead prefer to have something petrol. I don't generally find myself wanting things that don't suit my needs - could be I'm just fortunate in that respect. ;)

Though I'll admit that I would quite like a Tatra 8x8. ;)

I'd like a VW Type 3 'Razor edge' Karmann Ghia , but they rusted rather badly , so there aren't many around , and I dont have the money to buy one anyway! At the minute , my Fabia does me fine.

Any car? 1973 Carrera RS ...

Good call

Don't worry, it's the rest of the world that's squiffy, that's why we drive round in impractical vehicles with generally irresponsibe physical properties and performance characterisitics. But we'll save that thread for another day;)

Have been in an E46 M3, and it is stupidly quick, hand handles very nicely (from a passengers point of view!).

But..... the one car that doesn't look like I should be a footballer, AND leaves me weak at the knees, is the new SLK! In Black of course. Has to be the SLK55 AMG of course, but wouldn't mind a diesel one for starters, so I don't have to spend a shed load of dosh on fuel when I take it for a good spin each weekend. Which I would DEFINATELY DO! Wonder if the Merc Diesels can be remapped etc???

Bugatti Veyron.... f'ing quick car and VAG build quality :D:thumbup: ... and it has the flippy key

If not... 12volts with a turbo charger and forced induction :D :D

f'ing quick car and VAG build quality :D:thumbup:

So it's biggest strength and biggest weakness there :P:rofl:

Now, y'see, I don't get the appeal of the M3 at all, but AMGs work for me. No use to me at the mo, but I can understand why people like them - they're very understated even though they're ridiculously fast. Even the AMG badge is pretty small and subtle.

So it's biggest strength and biggest weakness there :P:rofl:

*Whispers extremly quietly* Yes Chris... thats why my golf is being replaced with a Ford next.. you and Tom won't be alone!!

Im wet already thinking about it.

If I could find a brand new one (or a minter) a Daihatsu Cuore Avanzato TR-XX R4.

Probably cheaper than the Fab to buy and loads more fun.

Rare as rocking horse poo though :(

Going of to google search the above car now...

Just found it.... Only a rally picture, which looks fun!
