CG Lock Mod

Featured Replies

I have been using one for the last couple of days. It

I have one. No problems at all...

I'm suprised theres a problem as they seem to be such an easy device to make.

Why would you want to turn it off? Just curious :)

I have mine permanantly on, and just use the thumb thing to release the belt when letting it retract or putting it on.

If someone else who doesn't use it wants to drive the car. Also there are cases where I do a lot of really short journeys so it would be handy. The option is supposed to be on it so it should really work.

@Snoopie when yours is off does it slide up & down belt alright ?

I had a look at Octav.ed's one before and it was the same.

only problem i,ve got with it is on long journeys if i need a p!ss really hurts me bladder or may b im getting on a bit and waterworks not as good as before. i have always mine on.

Yes GAFF. Press it , and it slides along very easy....

I'll have a proper look at mine tomorrow, and get back to you GAFF. The only thing i can think of, is that it's not installed properly. I've had a look at your pictures but cannot make it out from the top.

Of course, it may be fitted correctly, but i cannot think of any other reason.

It has an off position??

Maybe I should have RTFM :D

Not got this problem on mine, but as Tom mentioned, I just use the wheel to release and then pull the belt tighter/let it slacken. I've put it in the Off position a couple of times (TGI Friday's related usually :o) and the sliding bar came off during the drive both times, but that may well be down to user error. FWIW, the belt behaved as it used to without the CG Lock in place so I wasn't too fussed :D

  :P

The Turning off ain't mentioned too much in the manual. I actually noticed it when I originally looked at Octav.ed one. I seen the ON & OFF written on the slider sticker.

Looking at the manual it says that

"The Slide moves backward away from tongue to slide it off the flanges of the MAIN BODY to disable (turn it off) the lock function."

See diagram C, moving it to the Rear Detent turns it off. bascially when you move it to this position its not really free enough to move it up/down on the belt. My understanding having it disabled means that it would freely move up/down the belt without having to use the Thumb lever. So bascially doing what I have done means that when the slider is in the off position part of the thumb lever sits on the part shown with the arrows in the picture keeping the knurlwheel a little bit away from the belt making it free....i.e. turning off the CG-Lock if ya like.

See the diagram A it specifies "detents or the bumps", so front one towards the buckle is for On and the backward one if for OFF. There is a slight hollow in the slider for these Indents to slot into...not very well mind you.

I understand people wouldn't really use the OFF as they bought it to use. I'd be interested to hear of anyones being free while in the OFF position.

I hope I'm not being confusing in the way I describe it....shout if so

I emailed Mr CG-Lock about my ideas above, he seemed very impressed and thankful for the feedback  ......so much so he's giving me a pressie of one when they bring out a updated model.

Some quotes below, nice to see they take feedback onboard and are striving to improve the product.

"Great thinking! I paid engineers a lot to find essentially the same solution. Are you an engineer?"

"Thanks again for being proactive!"

Hi!

Have put a few ads in the CARSPORT magazine... so hopefully get increased awareness in Ireland and NI.
