dont have manual , but thanks 4 that anyway !!

Asssuming that you car is on fixed service intervals.

Switch off ignition.

Press the trip counter reset button and hold it down with left hand.

Turn ignition on with right hand and keep trip button pressed down for at least 10 seconds. The service interval notice should reset.

If this doesn't work post back here as there are some other possible methods.

  • Switch off the ignition and press the reset button of the trip counter below the speedometer and hold.
  • Switch on the ignition and release the reset button. One of the service events appears in the display.
  • Briefly press the reset button to switch between the displays of the service events.
  • When the desired service event is displayed, turn the button for setting the digital CLOCK to the right. *service---* appears in the display.
  • Switch off the ignition. The service event is now reset.

Came on the site to look for exactly this info. Cheers, I'll try it on the morrow.

But that only applies if your on fixed servicing. If your on variable, then doing the above will convert the car to fixed.....

I'm looking to do this with my vRS I bought in January. The service indicator has started a countdown from 1000 and on checking the service history it would appear that the dealership did not reset the counter when I bought the car and they serviced it then. The counter is reflecting the old schedule still.

The model code has my car shown as variable but the service history has been religiously carried out every 10k miles by the one and only previous owner. I'm guessing the garage must have switched it onto fixed intervals due to this.

Am I best to reset this myself now and then ensure it is reset when the next service is done in 4k miles time?
