Test drive short list...

Righty ho SWMBO needs to test some cars...

Diesel is preffered as 70/80 miles a day, presently in a polo, so anything around that size or a fraction bigger...the bigger she goes the smaller I can go, maybe even to 2 seats ;)

Cruise control is the only other requirement.

For example hte civic line, only the EX and above has it.

Now she is totally happy to take say, for example a fabia nad retro fit cruise.

However dealers say it's not retrofit, but we all know it is.

Does anybody know if this is the case for other manf's. Taking the civic example I found a post this morning that indicated as of 05 Honda stopped it...

Short list at the moment, bearing in mind my other mile monster thread as the two are not totally unrelated.

Civic - she likes.

, ten a penny.

Smart, not certain it would go down well.

Fiesta maybe...

Fabia not ruled out.

Above all it needs to be reliable and dependable, not cost the earth and be quite plentifull in supply...

Fester or Focus would be on my list.

A Class diesel?

Golf?

Civic

Ashtray?

Punto?

Leon?

Ibiza?

147?

C4?

Mitsubishi small thing ;) Free insurance and 3 years free servicing

Yaris?

Take a look at the top 5s by category here

Colt's a good car

Also check out the Getz diesel - 5yr unlimited mile warranty, loads of free services and they'll knock £1500 off easily  Not sure about cruise though

What price range fella?

Focuses seem pretty robust, although cruise not available on the diesels ( :( )

VW bora PD130?

have decent kit the run out models

heated seats, leather, cruise, parking sensors, 6disc, auto dim mirror etc

Budget is SWMBO's call...not too much, so that could be 200 quid to 18k...I suspect hte first one with cruise will win.

Bora PD130 Highline it is then... Lovely cars, under rated, plent of space, soooo comfy, and nice and cheap too. Variable servicing also so it should be cheap to maintain.

So far from mpov i agree with all the above listed cars. End of the day if your buying a diesel from most companies you can't really go wrong.

i didn't think the Fiesta had cruise control on any model

yip  for the bora we love ours, great car :)

An old lancia thema 3.2 with the ferrari engine ! ;)

Don't start that again :D

Fabia vRS with a SRMEC

Don't start that again :D

  or the obligatory mark 1 fiat uno turbo , bleed valve, and 150 bhp! lol....
